2002 Summit 800 won't start

i checked for spark and that is good. If i squirt a little gas directly in to the carbs it will fire but not run. So i pulled the carbs and plugs so and pull the cord and nothing comes out of the fuel line.

Should there be fuel coming out when i pull the engine over?

Also i pull the fuel line from the tank to the fuel pump and there is plenty of gas coming out of that line.

Yes, you should be squirting fuel out of the lines that go to the carbs when you pull the motor over. Since you verified that you have fuel going into the pump, that leaves you with either a bad fuel pump, or the pulse line from the fuel pump to the bottom or the motor is unhooked or cracked/broken. Check the pulse line for a spot that may have rubbed through from wear.

Or do you have a fuel filter between the pump and carbs that may be plugged?

thanks for the repley there is no fuel filter between the carbs and pump. I had the pulse line off and it looked good and is hooked up.

is there a rebuild kit for the fuel pump? or would it be better to just by a new one?

You should be able to get a rebuild kit for the fuel pump. Was there fuel in the pulse line? Usually when a pump fails and the diaphram breaks, you will end up with fuel in the pulse line. There should not be any in there.

no there was no fuel in the pulse line but the screws that hold the fuel pump together were not very tight, so i took it appart and cleaned it and reassembled. When i had it apart I did not see tears or hole in anything but I have never had one apart to know what I was looking for.
