2002 RMK 800 Operating RPM

Wanted to ask some opion here about my 02 800 RMK

Sled runs very good for almost stock (only thing that isn't is sea-level SLP pump gas heads and V-Force reeds), but the RPMs seem high to me. It will pull about 8300 while shifting then over-rev to almost 8500 if I let it.

Manual says 8200, so I wondered what people "aim for". Just concerned cause of the bottom end issues with these engines.

I have some vibration on higher RPMs, and had the clutch checked, and they said it was balanced perfect, within 1/10th of a ounce.

I like it to hit 8200 then hold about 8000-I'm riding at 10K+ elev. Check your belt it can cause some vibs if it's burnt, also I like the stock polaris belt.

Never over 8100 with the stock CDI... you're giving up ponies at 8500 with the stock CDI. Throw more weight at that thing.

All assuming you tach is calibrated and reading correct RPM.
