Working on the above mentioned sled and getting a little frustrated. No spark, I have followed all of the shop manual test procedures. All components are within parameters for resistance and voltage output. As a matter of fact, all tests are very close to my wifes 2002 and hers runs:eek: I know this isn't a mountain sled, but seems like we all end up working on something like this and I am just curious to know if any one has found any odd glitches or goofy problems with this ignition. Thanks

BTW: It started and ran for a few minutes last night and then wouldn't restart when I got it outside:confused:

start looking into your kill switch wiring and make sure it isn't shorted out. If that checks out good than look at the DESS cap and make sure it makes a good contact. You could also borrow the one from your wifes sled. It will start but will not let you rev it over 3K and should flash the DESS light at you but it will let you know if the chip in yours is taking a dump or not. Still no luck, swap the coils with your wifes sled and see if that is the problem. There are several other things that could cause it but these are a few of the easier ones to try first.

There is no DESS on this sled. Start buy disconnecting the kill switch and tether first, tethers are know to give problems on these sleds if they have been used alot. Next check your stator. when a mpem fails the sled wont run at all.

It'a alive!!!

Kinda resurrecting this one to give results. Owner of the sled brought me a new stator the other day and after installation it started on the second pull:D The new stator tested very close to the old for resistance and voltage output. Just was not able to put out enough amperage to charge the coil, by my estimation.

good to go

Hey ak, this sled does have a DESS:confused:. It was stuffed up under the console, no hole for it to be mounted normally. Just thought I would mention it as it was not visible without pulling a bunch of stuff apart.

yes there is a Dess post but there is no tether cord with a chip that plugs into the post. That post is there so you can make adjustment to your MPEM but you have to have a computer that only dealers are race teams have.

OK, now I get it!

Ah, OK, this one had a tether stuck on it, but who knows. These sleds get all kinds of treatments and I don't know its past:p I am just glad it runs and is gone from my shop;) Thanks for the info
