2002 chevy 2500 lift kit wheel size question

I'm thinking about getting a Ruff Country 6" lift on my truck. It says on their website says the wheels need 4.5 inches or less of backspacing and that you cant use stock wheels. I want to get 20 inchers for summer and thought I could use the stock 17s off a 2007 GMC for winter. Problem is all the 20 inchers have around 5.75 inches or more of backspacing. I'm thinking that it must not be that important on the 20 inch wheels since they are so much bigger. Tell me what you know about wheel size and lifts.

i found lots of 20" wheels with 4.5" backspace, but ended up going with American Eagle just because they were in stock. They're website is down right now and i cant remember exactly what model number i got, but they are real nice.

I just put on a Fabtech 6" with the Dirt Logic shocks and im very happy it! Rides great and sits perfect with 35's.
