20 Tooth on a 09 163?

Anybody run a 20 tooth top gear on a 09 163 xp with the stock helix?? Having a bit of trouble in deep powder holding R's. Gonna change to 416 ramps tomorrow, but if that doesn't help i may go to a 20. I love the new helix so i'm trying to avoid changing it. Any idea's??

I have been using a 24 tooth gear... Gives me more track speed on the climbs.. Fast on the road.. I hold 8200 R's in clicker 2. I am only 180 lbs.

24 Tooth??? Hummm that would never work here! Did you change your bottom gear, it's all about the ratio's.

you could also put in a SW helix and have all the adjustibility you will ever need--just a thought--

I've been very tempted, i know your having great results in about the same conditions we have here in NW Montana. I'll give the ramps a try this weekend, (my dealer suggestion) if i'm not happy i'm pm you monday. What do you think of 416 ramps with the SW Helix??

I have a setup for you that holds RPM....but you'll have to change the helix.
Give me a call if you need more details, I've tried just about every concievable setup possible on a XP. The 20 tooth is fine but only a part of what works.

24 Tooth??? Hummm that would never work here! Did you change your bottom gear, it's all about the ratio's.

My bottom is gear is 49.. We ride up to 11000 feet in the deep pow. But I think the rest of my setup is different. If it is correct, you don't have to gear down to make up for a bad setup.

I have changed gearing on my 09 163. I have tried the 20 and 19 tooth top gears. The stock helix works ok but going to a 41/45 works better and the 20top gear is best. This set-up works quite a bit better than stock for deep and steep. I still believe there is some gains to be had. I had called Winter Brew and I think I will give his kit a try as I have heard good things about it. They ride in similar conditions as I, which is very very important.
