Hey guys. i have a 2002 edge orginally a 600 twin 121", its now a 136" with a 800 xcr motor. Im running a cobra (1.35) track currently, and im going to being taking it to a 144" this year. i dont have the sled here by me to look at but can i clear a 2" paddle track with some notching? or just run a 1.75"? thanks for you input!

My 02 edge 144 came standard with a 2in. So I would think youll been fine.

Yea I've read on her and other forums that 2" will clear that front cooler and then you read a post that says you can't clear a 1.25 lol. But I did an extension kit and 1.5 intense track on a friends 02 edge with no rubbing. Just wast sure if a factory 144 rmk or what not run a different chain case or drivers. Thanks for the input sir!

No, not fine. You have coolers on the top of the tunnel that have to be avoided. The track must be notched to work. That either means cutting every lug yourself, or buying one that is pre-notched (camoplast made one because AC also used the design as well). I went the later route. And 2" is the max...in fact, it is really quite tight at the front cooler. Takes quite a fight to put it in.

Best of luck

Exactly right the XC wont clear a non notched 2 inch track as was said. The strip coolers dont allow the clearance. The front is super tight, personally id run a 1.75 just for the added clearance up front. When your in deep snow you want to have some clearance up front for the snow to clear the cooler. If its too tight it can cause problems. Its going to be a bad sled with a 144 under it though wait till you see ho much show it goes through.

Whoops, guess I was wrong. I didn't know the rmk and xc had different coolers. Sorry about that. Could you put rmk coolers in a xc?

Thanks. I'll see what I come across. Looking at 1.75 back country track, or a similar paddle track. The 136" isn't terrible but the 1.35 finger track isn't the hottest in deep powder. I'm hopping at 144" and 1.75 + track gives the 800 some more bite!

Potentially. In the past I have used the larger skidoo summit u coolers. As they are mostly full tunnel and very effective.

I believe the drivers on the XC may be larger as well. I cant remember 100 percent for sure off hand.

Definately cannnot hurt. A 1.75 back country should hook pretty hard. These Xcr 800's really pull hard with long tracks and will really climb.

Yea I can tell the power and potential is there just lacking lug. I don't ride in the mountains, off trail, tree riding, boondocking in the UP and it does decent now bit I have to go around some steeper inclines knowing I'll just bury it due to a lack of track.

If the only solution that you can afford is a notched 1 3/4" track, then cut your losses and sell the sled before you touch anything. Notching a track ruins the efficiency because it narrows down the lugs. Track efficiency appears to be directly proportional to the lug width squared. So a 2 in wide lug has an efficiency of 4, and a 4 inch wide lug has an efficiency of 16. So by cutting 2 inches out off of a 4 inch wide lug to miss the coolers, you just lost 75% of the pulling ability for two full track length rows of lugs, in my opinion. I owned an XC conversion and it was a real trencher. A dog. At nearly 600 lbs topped off, you get a workout as soon as you get off of the trail.

A 2" notched track will fit. It is a little bit of a pain to get it stuffed in there, but definately possible. I have a 2" Chanllanger track on my 02 extended 136". You could change to a smaller driver and that could give you some more room too.

Just have to remember that changes clutching and gearing as well.

A 2" will fit notched or put a u-cooler in it and you'll be fine. Like they said change clutching and gearing. This is an 02 XC i built with a 2.25 finger track it was tight but it cleared the front cooler .
