I am at a dead lock i have a very good sum of money to work with i live in northern Minnesota we do have snow i don't ride to much around here out west is my priority. Which is better to have all in all 4 stroke turbo/ supercharger or 2 Stroke MODs please give me feedback and opinions.
Thanks Mike

I'm new to the four stroke turbo thing(ran a m1000 last year, also have zx mod with a 995) bought a turboed Rx1(to get a taste of 4 stroke turbo power relatively cheap) this year, Now I have all three sleds for sale to buy a turbo nytro...all that to say turbos are addictive, people are going to tell you if you like to boondock buy a dragon, m?, xp...my answer is, be the guy who can boondock a turbo...you can learn to make a 4stroke do what a 2stroke can...pretty tough to make 2 stroke have 340hp.

Ive noticed a few riders switching back to 2 strokers after having boosted 4s.

A turbo 2 stroke may be the best choice imho.:beer;

I agree to that making a 2 stroke create some power m's seem to blow belts very often with big power thrown at them from what i hear. I have access to a CNC mill my best friend is a machineist are you able to get a 4 stroke to 500 lbs or what are people able to get them to i am a pretty big guy at 240.
Thanks Mike

I would be one of those peoples.... After owning nothing but Yamaha I was unsure about making the switch but I can honestly say that I have been having more fun on my XP than I did on my boosted Apex. And my back doesn't hurt anymore! :face-icon-small-ton

im pretty sure there has not been a turbo two stroke over the monster to date... the nytro is so good to ride and so reliable! the only time you wont like it is getting it unstuck. but you sure dont get stuck much! oh and for those who claim its not a boondocker....get with the program. i challenge any two stroke to follow me through the trees.

three guys up here switched back from turbo nytros....one had ski-doo previously the other polaris...both went back to a dragon....other one went to a cat and had cat previously...not that they didn;t like their sleds...just found them heavy..they are big guys and extreme boondock

I have yet to ride a 4stroke sled, but Im wondering if it will be similar to dirtbikes...I bought a 4stroke dirtbike last spring and will NEVER buy another 2stroke dirtbike! Although they are heavy,( I'm 160lbs soakin wet) they have a way more useable powerband for woods and trail riding and are very reliable!

ok thank you very much getting stuck completely sucks so getting unstuck is a worrry sometimes i see that timbersled was able to get one to 520lbs dry plus fuel on average 55 pounds 575 total weight with multiple 1000's into it a dragon is 472 claimed with fuel is 537 lbs is weight to power that needed. A dragon turbo 200 horse do 4 stroke people just have the big power number for talk is it really needed( I DIDN't MEAN THAT IN A MEAN FASHION AT ALL)just wondering thank you all for the great insight. Which 2 strokes do you all prefer?
Thanks again
Mike

I would bet most people with Turbo sleds do not run them with high boost most of the time.
We run ours mostly around 12lbs and its plenty to get you into trouble. Our's are both 4strokes. One Nytro and one Apex. I come from Skidoo's. I also just bought a Skidoo for a third sled. Small 600 though.

I have almost 2900 miles on my boosted Apex, and have loved it almost the entire time. Three oil changes, three belts, two sets of hyfaxes, and a sh!t eaten grin is what I have to show for it. The only times I do not like it are when the snow is just set up enough to make pulling it over a chore. If the snow is setup hard its fine, and if its deep its great, but the in between can be a workout. The Nytro is much better in that aspect.

Depending on the kind of riding you prefer, one would be better than the other in my opinion. If you like to do everthing, you will love the 4stroke Turbo. If you prefer the tight trees, creek bottoms and such, a smaller sled would suit you better.
For my kind of riding, I dont have any plans to ever return to a non turbo sled. No matter 2 or 4 stroke, it will have a turbo. The advantage to the 4 stroke right now would be lesser quality fuel for the amount of boost, reliability, cost to up keep(belts, oil, etc.). The down side is weight.
If I did not put on as many miles as I do in a year, the cost of fuel and upkeep would not matter as much to me.

Good luck with your choice.
