BullHeadMoto had a great idea posing as an epoxy salesman in the general forum.. If your current plan doesn't pan out, I would give that a shot for sure.. I'm a little more rowdy nowadays and would just go charging in there and beat the piss outta them cowards and worry about the police and laws later, but I was raised in my dad's footsteps and he shot down a helicopter for hovering over his shop (funny story actually) so don't take my advice to heart:D Really the epoxy thing would work for sure

UPDATE 5-22-09
I received a phone call last night and was told where my sleds are. The guy didn't want to give me his name but I need some more help from you PLEASE. I cant just go bust into the place, I need to positivly identify my stuff.

Jeff where did "he" say they were? Lets do lunch and go snope a little?

Jeff, you only have a cell phone. The number that called you will be recorded even if they tried to mask it with the *67 caller ID blocking feature.

Tell the police when you were called and what was said. They can check with your provider and go pick up the witness. With that they can get a search warrant.

Other wise I'm sure 25 or so of your best friends will show up at the same time to stand around the property until someone calls the police for unlawful assembly.. after that the cops should be able to look on probable cause.

Now for the rest of the story.

The person that called me did not give his name but I did have the phone number. I called it and got a fax machine. I sent a fax asking for more help.

I contacted the Midvale police and they took the information I received. Next I went to the Woods Cross police where my sleds were allegedly located. The officer I spoke to wanted me to try and get the person who called me to give more information because there was not enough for probable cause search warrant. He also wanted me to not mention that I was working with the police. That would have potentially driven this person away.

The Woods Cross police did go to the house and ask to look around the property and was initially denied. The police made a return trip and asked again. This time they were given permission to look at anything they wanted. Nothing was found.

So I assume that I was given crappy information or they moved 2 sleds in between the visits which is entirely possible since it was 2 days apart.

I hope the person that called me can give more information, if not I think I am at a standstill once again.

Thanks for all the offers to help. If I get another lead I will probably approach it differently and use some help from my extended group of friends here on the forum to investigate a bit more on my own. Now that I know a bit more about the limitations the police have on them I will try to get an eyewitness to state positively they saw and was able to identify a sled.

If it were me I would get to know everything about the people and the house/garage where the sleds were allegedly stored. I would make a file and find out every single thing I could about them, down to their favorite color and food! The police, in my opinion, do a VERY poor job at recovering stolen property, from past experience.

Got Rambo? ;)

have you thought of a private investigator? they are pricey but maybe they can help you, especially seems how they have probably moved the trailer and sleds now, sorry to hear it got so close and now it took steps back. Let any of us know if you need help because I am willing to bet there are people on here including me that will do anything to help :beer; keep us updated.

from my experience private investigators arent any better than the sheriff they just cost alot. i would say the police tipped them off on their first visit and being that they were denied to look around the first time something was definitely being hidden. and of course the first thing they did was get it the fu<k out after that. that sucks man good luck

I hate to be a cop hater but come on...Asking alleged suspects if they could search their property with out a warrant lol. Like they would let them search if the sleds were there. They just F'd things up more by doing that. Sorry man.

How about a rotating stake out on the house in question. Non stop surveillance might shed some clues on the where abouts of your property. A thief is one of the worst forms of scum out there. I cant say I would be as patient, beatdown first ask questions later.
