2-Moto Questions/Comments

Dont take what I said the wrong way, I'm not saying learn how to ride you suck, or just deal with the sketchyness. It takes time to learn how to ride a snow bike. Nobody jumps on a motocross bike and over night can keep pace in the pro class. The same principle applies, no one is going to be an expert on a snow bike the first couple times he goes out. Give it time and practice you will become very comfortable through the trails and whoops promise ;). They handle very different from a dirtbike, your mind and muscles have to retrain themselves for snowbiking.

If your trying to convince your buddies to get one, have them ride it when you get off the trail :D. You ride it out there, then let them have the fun, haha I did that last year and almost everyone I ride with has one now.

Likewise Crawfish..your a fast guy and of course there is always a learning curve, the 2 moto is awesome as is..but can be improved on, like nearly everything.. you dont ride a stock mx bike do you??

Haha of course my mx bikes are all stock.... :D hahaha. I know exactly what you mean though, there are things that can definitely be improved with these bikes. And honestly I have been the guinea pig for any new parts and ideas my buddies have had :o. Some ok, a lot of them not so good. But yes things can be improved, but I think first before people start modifying bikes learn the basics of riding it, then have at it trying to make it suit you.

I'm confident that I have the basics down at this point, just looking to make it a little better. The snowbike is a great idea, and works suprisingly well, but it can always be better IMO.

I'd like to hear the things that you've tried, what worked and what didn't work. Could save the rest of us from having the same ideas and spending time a money trying them out.

Anyone have experience with the stabilizer fins that 2moto sells?

I agree 100%. Personally, I can deal with sketchyness on the trail, but that has been the #1 complaint from others who have ridden my bike and a big reason why they aren't ready to get one yet. I figure if I can work out the problems I'll have more buddies to ride with.

Seat time is the answer.....I remember the first couple rides the wife & I took. She was picking herself & the bike up off the road what seemed like a couple times every mile, then she learned to just "go with the flow". :D Now she has no problem with 40 mile rides. :beer;

Check out the youtube videos....search "Loibip2" to see them. She rides "Red". (The "Road Ride" vid from this year is of my son, & nephew's first ride on snow)

Stabilizer fins?? I need to look on their website, but we tested a half moon shaped fin on the back half of the ski to help with straight line stability on the groomed stuff. Kind of like a fin on a salmon water ski. It worked great on the wide ski, have not tried it yet on a standard. I'm betting it works well though, I would put one on my bike but honestly we stay off the road as much as possible. We never go more than a couple hundred yards before we are off the trail. Dont have time but will give you some more ideas later.

damper

i took the scotts steering damper off of my other bike and got the brackets for my 650 berg, having a damper on a dirt bike and riding fast trails is a big plus, so i figured it would help on the snow too. this is my first season on the snowbike and ive been out 4 times, when im riding hardpack i turn the damper up and you can just keep a loose grip on the bars and haul ***, it definatly helps and reduces fatigue. ;)

anybody try the explorer front end set upon the 2moto. Heard the explorer isn't sketchy on the trail.

i'm listening

Ok so that is the answer I've been looking for. Going to get the fin. FISH did you do the big or little (100 or 200 mm) fin on the big ski?

I'm gonna put that and my dampner back on and see how she takes the trails. honestly, that is the only thing that really has been a problem for me... ya it gets easier but just like a sled, you swap out the stock skis to cut down on the "darting." why not find a way to improve the parts about the bike you have issue with. Hell, if I could afford and new bike and turbo, I'd do that too so i could blast the really deep pow without concern.

thanks for the info boys. now lets link up for some riding.

Well, I decided to order the stabilizer fin. I'll post some feedback once I get to try it out.

Also ordered a bigger spocket, got into a drag race against an ski-doo 800XP, he said we were going about 70mph when I started to pull away from him. That's faster than I need to go! I'm hoping with the lower gearing I'll be able to put behind slowmobiles without having to clutch it.

Sorry guys went out of town for the Fiesta bowl and school started again so have not had time to get back on here.

I checked out 2moto's website and it looks like they are selling fins similar to what we had tested. The ones we tired are pretty short, more like the 100 mm setup they sell. The two guys I ride with still have them on their big skis and say all the time how much they love them. I have not ridden a wide ski yet this year but I remember last year the fin made a good difference on the hard pack. The 200 mm they sell seems way to long to me, it would be impossible to turn the thing lol. Let me know Teal what you think about the fin.
