4-9-08 a pack of 4 wolves attacked and killed 2 domestic pets east of Ashton, Idaho. These things are getting so bold and blattant to kill in broad daylight. I saw 3 of them as they were moving back to the timber thru the binocs. First kill was only 1/2 mile from my property, 2nd kill was 1 mile away. Makes me scared to bring my horses home for the summer. But guess what, I have a cabinet full of guns ready and not scared to use them!!!

I know this will stir up emotions amongst people for or against control of wolves. I am just keeping people informed.

Agree or disagree, control is the key here.

To bad I am leaving sat for the summer or I would jump at the opportunity to come sit in the fields up the waiting for one of them Wolves to start harrasing your horses, FWIW I would bring my own digital camera for the proof.

As soon as I get the pics of my cousin's dog(2nd kill) I will post them for people to see. That is if your stomach can handle it. Thanks for the offer bubba, I'll supply the :beer; Might not need paper targets to practice on this year.

Coming from a Yellowstone wolf watcher, shoot away. It's called wildlife management, something the Bambi generation has a hard time with.

a few years ago i was working for stohl ranches up in lamont... when we went to round up the cattle in the fall the cows absolutely freaked out when the dog would get near them... wolves had been harassing the cattle all summer long... i never saw any, but there were a few times when im sure i was being watched... always had my .45 with me just in case...

Shoot, shovel, shutup.................... the only way to take care of the problem with all of the tree huggers around. Sure would love to lay the smackdown on a few if they were attacking somebody's dog.

flat out SSS, just like this one that was stalking my sis'inlaw's dog in AK.:)

These SOB's aren't scared of anything. I tracked their path today and they went past my house within 50 yrds heading west toward a cattle ranch. Luckily no loss of cows, but they will be back. As their motives are well documented, they like to prey and stalk their victims. I for one would rather deal with bears than wolves. Funny thing is there are at least 8 residents including me who are on board to keep each other informed and kill on sight before they take out anything else.

Any good "snipers" out there who want to join me????:D I'll supply the :beer;

What's with the shovel and shutup? Read the rules:

In addition, the Idaho Legislature has updated legislation that replaces federal law that took effect February 27, giving people the authority to protect their pets and other animals from wolves on private and public land. The state legislation reads: "Wolves may be disposed of by livestock or domestic animal owners, their employees, agents and animal damage control personnel when the same are molesting or attacking livestock or domestic animals." A permit from Fish and Game is not necessary, but wolves killed under these circumstances must be reported to Fish and Game within 72 hours, with a reasonable amount of additional time allowed when access to the site is limited.

city folk don't understand this concept, if your cows come up dry and your calves don't gain any weight, they just say that look they didn't kill any livestock:mad:

big city folks dont have a clue where there food comes from, people eraticated the wolfes for a reason. all these dogooders should be forced to watch the wolfe in action. good medicine is a bushmaster with a springfeld scope tuned in at 300 yards

New word on POS Idaho laws---

The wolf has to be caught in the action of killing and taking down an animal, BEFORE, the owner has the right to shoot. WTF kind of crap is that!!!!!! Once your horse or cow is taken down, what good is it? Seems too me that the wolves, (and bears for that matter), have more rights than a human.
Under current legislations, a rancher is paid $500.00 per cow that is taken down by a wolf. In real market conditions that same cow is worth $1500-2000. That will drive out ALL ranchers out of business. The math does NOT work out in the favor of anyone but the ***GGIN tree huggers.
My neighbor faces the fact of folding his cattle business that he has built for the last 30 yrs because he has no money to fight and the cheap reimbursment is a "SLAP IN THE FACE" to a hard working AMERICAN.

Hey Bubba, contact me, my wife and I have an idea who you are and would like to get with you to discuss things further. Pm me bud. Thanks.

VERY NICE take down SPUD!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hope I can have one of those soon.

What are the Reg's in AK for these mangy mutts? Just curious how things work up north.

Not arguing with you, just trying to understand the law.

Senate Bill 1374 says:
(c) Control of Depredation of Wolves. Wolves may be disposed of by livestock or domestic animal owners, their employees, agents and animal damage control personnel when the same are molesting or attacking livestock or domestic animals and it shall not be necessary to obtain any permit from the department. Wolves so taken shall be reported to the director within seventy two (72) hours, with additional reasonable time allowed if access to the site where taken is limited. Wolves so taken shall remain the property of the state and shall be turned over to the director upon request. Livestock and domestic animal owners may take all nonlethal steps they deem necessary to protect their property but a permit must be obtained from the director to control wolves not molesting or attacking livestock or domestic animals except as allowed by Idaho department of fish and game harvest regulations.

(c), "molesting" shall mean the actions of a wolf that are annoying, disturbing or persecuting, especially with hostile intent or injurious effect, or chasing, driving, flushing, worrying, following after or on the trail of, or stalking or lying in wait for, livestock or domestic animals.

03/28 Governor signed
Session Law Chapter 294
Effective: 03/28/08

This bill says you can get a permit to kill them, or kill them for worrying or following your livestock. If some fish cop is telling you different, then show him this bill, and ask him to explain it. Otherwise, get his name and call his boss or the governors office. Now, the way I read it, you can't just shoot a wolf on site, unless you obtain a permit.
Bill 1374

Thanks, Wade

Shoot to kill. ADFG flys around and tells hunters where the wolves are at to get around the liberal whinners from outside that have no clue and biotch about fly and shoot.
When there dogs and children are attacked, thay will change there minds. They don't live here so they don't know but still they feel the need to protest.

we can just sit and wait for them and shoot them like we can shoot coyotes. in certain areas they are considered a trophy animal but other than that we can just level them. we have people here just sitting and waiting to see one and they don't even have a reason to shoot them. i can't wait to see one and exercise my .270.

I live in NEW YORK STATE, just 30min drive to the Adirondack Mts, where the state is planning on releasing 4 pair of grown wolves into the park. 5 yrs ago they released 70 young moose in same area. There is a big debate going on over this wolf issue, people around my local area do not want them reintroduced to the adirondacks. Oh yes i agree with you, i love good medicine, good beer, and the coyotes in my back fields love my 7mm mag with the old nikon on top:eek:
