2" lug to 2.4" lugs- Worth the money?

Riding a 800 switchback with all the goodies. I have a 144x2 right now, and I am thinking about upgrading to a 144x2.4, but I'm not sure if its worth the money. I think I have to get new front drivers and a bigger rear bogie's. Does the extra half an inch make a big enough difference to throw the money into it?

I went from a 162x2.25 to the extreme 162x2.5 and the difference is unbelievable. You won't be disappointed. Plus the stopping power with the bigger lugs is much appreciated heading downhill.

I changed my track from 2" to 2.4" on my turbo'd IQR. Just got back yesterday, the difference the new track made was unbelievable. Would've never guessed it.

Do it . I went from 2" to 2.5" night and day difference.
Ask your lady if a 1/2" makes the diff. :D lolol

I would go longer and then bigger on the paddle--say a 151 and a 2.4, I would not do it with a 144.

But that is just my opinion.

I would not spend that money unless I was going longer on the track as well---just get some track extensions and bolt on and go.

The inexpensive way---prefered way would be a set back on the rails--but the extensions will do the job just fine.

The difference between a 2" paddle and a 2.5" paddle is like night and day.... I still trip out what a difference it makes as I'm slaying all my buds in the deep!

Just Do It

Another vote for YES, go with the 2.4". Another benefit is the new series 5 and 5.1 tracks have a larger pitch (2.86") and are ligher, both contributing in improved floatation and a few more track MPH.

I've been debating the swap from 15x153x2.25 to 16x156x2.5

Just don't know if it will be worth it.

Oh ya--but you might as well go 159". The float you would gain alone would be awesome.

I just moved my old moddy for my kid from a 156x2x15 to a 159x16x2 (clearence issues) and it made a huge difference. I have a 162x16x2.5 on my sled and love it--but thinking of a 174 next.

We put a 2.4 on my bro's old edge mod, made clearance for it with a 5/8 chaincase drop kit I think it was $250 from Holz, been a couple years now. Easy installation, better attack angle, what a difference! Get the most out of it and do a 151 at the same time, it'll be the best money you ever spent on that switchback. Also swapped a 151x16x2 on an edge with fabcraft tunnel to a 159X15x2.4, this made a huge difference as well, like night and day!

lug

it will make a difference.....when i cut my 2.25 down to 1.75 it picked up alot of track speed, so.....loosing some track speed when going bigger may be a factor....anybody have to reclutch when doing this?

I would not spend that money unless I was going longer on the track as well---just get some track extensions and bolt on and go.

deffinatley i think youll see a way bigger difference going longer and bigger i went from 136 to 151 and stayed same lug and omg unbelievable
if i had the choice i would go 2.4 though
