2 Flashes & No Coolant Reading on Gauge

Finally fired up the sled for the first time after I got rid of the front brick (radiator). Upon starting the sled, the 'Check Engine Light' flashed twice immediately and remained to blink throughout my test runs, and the coolant temperature was not reading on the hood digital gauge. That is my primary setting on the gauge so I have an indication of how hot the sled is running. I feel it’s a must since I don’t have egts installed. The high temp gauge never illuminated and the sled ran fine, which was a good sign. It drives me bonkers to see the check engine light blink like it’s a disco ball.

I looked up the engine blink code and it relates to the engine coolant temperature sensor having to high/low voltage. So, I did a couple of safe checks to ensure I bleed the coolant properly and there was constant coolant purging from the bleed screw when I had the bottle cap off the coolant bottle. Also had the front end elevated and tested coolant pressure while the sled was running. The heat exchangers were warm during my test runs and the coolant wasn’t frothing or overflowing through the overflow tube. I also put a new thermostat when I removed the radiator.

Any thoughts :light: other than a faulty coolant temp. sensor?

sounds like a short. If it worked fine before you pulled the radiator make sure you didn't short or cut the wire somewhere.

the sensor located on the front of the cylinder head....by the thermostat housing...

check the wires from the sensor to the wiring harness by the recoil housing, porbably just came disconnected or pinched..

should be an easy fix..

Thanks fellas! It definitely could be a short somewhere near the recoil housing. I checked the thermostat sensor to ensure it was plugged in but didn't follow it all the way through where all the wires start to meet. During the summer I tried to group the wires together and put heat tubing around the wires to make the engine compartment look presentable and keep the wires from chaffing. The fuel controller has wires going everywhere.

BTW Guido - Like the Grenade sticker on your ladies ride. Still showing some snowboard love.
