1999 MXZ 600 skid swap

I have been wanting to build a sled for some time an recently acquired a 1999 mxz 600 from a fiend of mine, which he had bought from some one who had installed the 151" skid an track from a 2001 summit hm...

Turned out the tunnel was beat up to badly for me to want to use..
So i bought a used chassis, bulkhead, and belly pan. Hand polished it, an its clean an ready to go.

I have the dimension that were used to mount the skid in the old tunnel, but want to see what the best setup would be.

I am able to do all the work, an strating from a big pile of parts will assemble a full sled. Just dont know a lot about suspension.

Couple questions thou..

1. I want to run a 151" 2 1/4 track no studs . Read on here a lot of guys switch to 8" drives... if i have to switch im going to use wahl no-slip drives... this sound good?? to buy these an a track i need to know the pitch which i dont really understand... 3" pitch sound good??

2. I'm going to make new wider running boards at work out of 1/8 aluminun. And must plan for new bolt holes for skid mounting reinforcement. So the old skid holes in the chassis where as follows.

Front hole was drilled 4" straight back from orgional hole in tunnel...

Rear hole was in a small set of drop down brackets, an from the stock mounting hole in the back measured 10 1/2 inchs back, an 1 1/2 below the factory hole.

Are these measurment good to use or is there a better mounting setup.. it seems the people here know what there talking about for sure an are full of great advice...

3.) Does this setup achieve good attack angle???

I know i will have more questions... but for now just looking for the best position to mount the skid...

thanks

Doug

Don't use the wahl bros drives they are junk. The pitch is not quiet right on them I already had this trouble and I bought avid drivers they are the way to go. Good luck on the sled

The pitch is determined using the size of the windows on the track(in general). A 151" track uses a 2.52 pitch driver. You will likely need to go with 8 tooth drivers due to the 2 1/4" lug. Otherwise your paddles will rub the front cooler when letting off the throttle.
