1998 XC 700 Flooding Problems

I have a 98 XC 700 and its constantly pumping fuel into clutch side cylinder. It comes out of vent hose into airbox even at idle. They are flat slide carbs and have been cleaned out and adjusted but still does it. Ive been told it needs bigger jets but its only one carb that does it. The needle and seats seem to be good not much wear on them. The sled has a Hot Seat head with Flat Slide carbs and a SLP Boost Bottle. Thanks

I would guess all is not right in the pto carb. Remove and reinspect. Look for sticking float bowl jets among other things. The severity of the issue means something is very obvious. 550iq

Looked at it twice and even brought it to a Polaris shop they said everything looks right and it was adjusted. They were saying my jets on both side were a size or two smaller for the new gas. Would you think that is the flooding issue? They are flat slide carbs I've heard they really aren't good carbs but I'm not sure everyone has there own opinion I guess

Just put new D-slide prototype carbs on it and went up to the recommended size jets and it still put to much fuel. But when i first put on the carbs i tryed it out with 185s on both sides and seemed to run fine IDK

there could be a chance there is something wrong with your boost bottle. but all id recommed is a holtzmen compensator. may correct your problem you are having as it uses elevation and pressure to determine how much fuel needed for each carb. worked great on my mm700 mod sled.

You need to test the pop-off of the needle and seat. About the only things, that will allow excess fuel to leak up and out the vents is a worn needle/seat, and/or incorrect float height.

Might not hurt to inspect the reed pedals too, and make sure you're not getting blow-back.

If you believe you are having problems with the boost bottle, pull it and put spark plugs in the holes, then secure them with good zip-ties. Those boost bottles can cause alot of vibrations, which could possibly be bouncing the float around.
