New to the forum, but I thought I would ask the experts. A little background first.
I have been out of sledding for about 10 years, then my dad decided that the warm weather south was better in the winter so I acquired his 1995 RXL. Then my wife said we need another sled so we can ride together....along came a XCF from a relative that has very low miles.
The big thing with the XCF is she can pull start it on her own and it is very light, but it has a tendency to get stuck in the snow around our place (mostly CRP and deep ditches). She also likes to pull the kids in a sled around the yard. I travel for work quite a bit and this is something that they can do when I am gone, and I can not help her get unstuck, so I decided that I could make the XCF "un-stickable".
Here is where I need your input...I acquired a 144" 1.25" track and a couple rail extensions that I was going to put on the RXL. I decided to sell it and get a RMK....so the track and extensions went on the XCF. I took it for a spin today and it seemed fine, had to lower the suspension to make it fit, but it still takes off well and everything seems fine.
My question is, will this cause the little fan engine to work too hard and overheat???? Should I regear so it is not pulling so hard?? Any idea of what the stock gearing is and what a good gear to go to would be?
I think it will be fine as we do not ride hard.
This might be the only 440 XCF RMK in existence!
Sorry for the long post, but I wanted to eliminate the questions of "Why would you do that?" To me it makes the lightest, almost impossible to get stuck, snowmobile I have seen.
