1997 Mountain Max Motor Engine For Sale $450

I have a 1997 Yamaha Mountain Max 700 Engine for Sale. It is currently in a 1999 sled that I am parting out. Sorry about the snowy picture. Thats from getting towed out. I will update the picture soon.

This motor has always run flawlessly. Miles are estimated to be around 4000 but are unknown. Recently, I was riding it and the small coolant overflow hose came off. The powder was really deep that day and my gauges were always covered. I stopped when I noticed the problem. The temp sensor had popped out and my temp light was on. The motor was still running and did nothing to indicate damage. However, I turned it off and got towed out (by a Polaris. How embarrassing.

I pulled the rope today and it fired right up. I haven't ridden it yet but it seemed to run normal. With that said, this motor was overheated. In fact, it got hot enough to turn the Red colored head kind of an orange color. You can kind of see that in the picture.

This listing is for the complete engine only, as-is. It will not include the clutch, stator, or flywheel. All other parts are also for sale. I have a complete parts listing with negotiable prices under the Yamaha swapmeet forum. Let me know what else you need. Engine is $450 OBO.

On Wednesday, I rode this machine across the yard and into the shop to begin dismantling it. I got it warm enough to check the compression - 115, 113, and 118.

I really think this motor is fine. Definitely worth opening up to make sure, but it runs fine and the compression seems good.

I will keep my price firm at $450. If there are no takers, I can hang on to it and find a cadaver sled that needs a new heart!

I really think this motor is fine. Definitely worth opening up to make sure, but it runs fine and the compression seems good.

Shining a flashlight into the exhaust ports shows very little scarring or wear on the cylinders. This listing is for the motor only. I do have a few other parts left over for this machine. The Chassis is gone.

Engine only in running condition is $450. Plus shipping.

Read the entire thread. I need to update the pictures because this is for the motor only. The stator, flywheel, and other accessories are not included with the motor but are also for sale.

I also have a pretty good black hood and the "dash" piece from this same sled if anyone wants to make me an offer on those.

And also one good trailing arm, one bent trailing arm (I can't remember which side is bent, spindles, etc.

I might even still have the carbs.
