I am trying to help my brother get his sled back together as a surprise. He broke both clutches after hitting a rock last year. He has had a tough year holding his business together and can't find the money to fix it. It is a 1997? 670 Summit. It has a blue hood. The dealer checked the runout on the crank and it appears the motor was not damaged.

The primary was a Polaris and IIRC he had to have it machined to fit properly. What is the correct taper and what clutches will fit it.

My next question is what type of shaft is the secondary? Is is 1 inch keyway type, or is it splined. Do you have to use a Ski doo secondary or could you use another brand?

I don't have much money to throw into this project, but think with some info I could scab a setup together for him.

Thanks for your help

Not sure on Primary, as I run DOO, but secondary will be a 1" keyed shaft. You can, and I recomend running a Arctic Cat Roller secondary. They are 1 1/16" shaft with smaller key. Use a little shim stock to make up the shaft size, and file down, or get a Stepped key. there should be a few topics on this as it was a fairly common swap back in the day
