174x 3" gearing MCX viper

Trying to figure if I should be gearing down at all running a 174x 3" compared to a 174x 2.5 like I was running in my 270 Nytro last season. I ran 19/40 (2.10) w 7 tooth drivers last year and was very impressed with both track speed and belt life. The new machine geared 21/49 (2.33) and going to 7 tooth avids to clear the 3". Wondering if gearing will be close given the taller paddles or it isn't much more load and I should be trying to get closer to last years set up. Would like to know what guys were having luck with on their t nytros running 174 3"? Any feedback is always appreciated. Cheers !

I'd try the 21/49 you have, it should be just about perfect with the 3". Quite a few guys I know running 18/40 on Nytros with 174 2.5s which gives you about a 2.22222. Might as well give it a shot cause its free, LOL.

I run 20/40 on my nytro with 174" 3" I started with 18/40 then 19/40. And now the 20/40 and it is by far the best setup I have run for me. Great track speed and great belt life. Guy I ride with runs 21/40 on his 270 nytro and works real good his is 2-1/2 thrack tho.

I would recommend gearing it way down so you dont scare yourself like last year in the sugar bowl. I hate to see people that think they can ride scare themselves. LOL.

Those Vipers sure look sweet... Saw a pic of one long tracked and turbo.

So just to clarify Ryan, are you talking amateur bc mountain rider low gearing or going all the way down to Saskatchewan wannabe gear ratio? I have a feeling I could put 4:10's on this thing and still use your prairie a$$ for traction :)
