17' ECU Flash on 16' MY, heavier Oil Consumption

I took my sled into Carl's for Cold/Warm idle issues. The Tech's said there is a "TSB" for it which is a new ECU Flash. [Team Tip S-16-02-03]

Post Flash the issue I brought it in for is gone, (Yippee!) But I noticed an uptick in Oil Usage after. Not Break-in levels, but noticeably higher after ~100 miles on the new update.

I talked to the Tech's again today about it, curious if something else was done or if it was accidentally put back into a break-in mode somehow.

They said the ECU updated applied brings my 16' up-to 17' ECU level's, and they are getting reports of the 17's burning quite a bit more oil than the 16's are.

I know two 16's that burned down this season (Ring Failures). Are any of the 17's owners here seeing higher oil usage than the 16's? This sure peaks my interest....

if that's not in break-in that's got to be wrong 31 to 37 miles to a quart I've heard of MPG but not in respect to oil. I have a 16 and I know I've never ran out of oil before I burnt 2 tanks of gas! even at that its 24: to 1: and getting 5 or 6 MPG

I haven't measured it....but off hand I have not noticed a difference between the 16's and 17's. I would not describe the 16's as using too little oil....and definitely not to dangerous levels.

Interesting...makes me wonder if reflashing to a different map resets break-in mode? Or is it a '17 map/oil ratio change?

Jay are you familiar with the Digital Wrench to see if there is a Break-in PID on the data screen of the DW?

I would think there most likely is. I haven't used the DW on the Axys. That would confirm if the tech was paying attention before the reflash and checked this PID afterwards.
