163" Dragon skid & track

Hey everyone;I was kinda hoping someone has done a mod similar to mine. I've put a fabcraft D&R in my '04 switchback and am trying to put a Dragon 163" track and skid in. I've 8 tooth extroverts and have trimmed off 1" on the rails. I notched the endcaps to fit again. Now my problem is that the skid still hits the rail tips. Measuring the height of the extroverts and tips of the rails to the front skid bolt, I seem to need to move the skid back 2" more. However if I do this I will not have any slack in the track (track will be pulled tight as though I have the adjusted the tension).
My question is how can I make this setup fit? If I remove the end caps and set the skid back another 1" it may fit.
Has anyone ran there rails without end caps and just a anti-stab?
Does anyone have another option?

Thanks Andy

Although this is a Timbersled... you get the idea.

I used to be against anti stabs... but since you don't run the caps AND you replace the limiter strap crossbar with the stab kit... you really don't gain any weight PLUS you get the added benefit of the protection and a bit easier turning of the track.

Post up a pic of your skid installed.

The D&R throws a wrench in the mix.

When I did my Avid extended chaincase (D/R) earlier this season. I moved the new Dragon Skid 1" down, and 1 3/4" back. I then mocked up the skid with drivers pressed on and mocked in as well. I measured aprox 2 inches of clearance and trimmed the rails from their. It was a fairbit that ended getting cut off but again ran into the same problem as you are having mounting the skid back further or trim the rails more as the rails were hitting the drivers under suspension load. You want to trim the rails more than 1 inch, but important not to go too much. Take off an inch at a time and keep checking clearance. I reinstalled the caps, and drilled new holes for the limiters. I do not run the Anti-Stab, and it has worked great for me. I'm Not telling you not to run the Anti-Stab though. You have to be pretty bang on not to have any issues. If your off ever so slightly you want the Anti Stab. Also don't be scared to notch out the mounting holes for your rear wheel axel to allow better track adjusting.

I'd post up some pics for you, so you can see what I'm talking about but Snowest won't let me as I'm not a PAID "Premium member" I've been starting to spend les and less time here. Kind of sad really as I used to enjoy this site now I can't do anything. If you want pics you will have to PM me your e-mail @ or i can just post up the pics on another site.

there is no such thing as a free lunch

I am not a paid member either, yet......If you calculate what the cost is per day, it is still really cheap entertainment. There is nothing in life that is truly free. This is a premium resource that has saved me a ton of money, I deem the cost worth while and am just waiting for it to fit into my budget.
