155 vs 163 Pro

Planning on getting a 13 Pro RMK for this fall. Looking for some input on track sizes. I'm 6'8 about 265lbs w/gear and trying to pick between a 155 and 163. The only thing keeping me from the 163 is that when we have snow in MN I would like to ride the sled on the flat lands also. Sled will be stock except for maybe a can, shocks, and cluthing upgrades. Does anyone know the overall length difference between the 155 and 163?

About 4" of total difference on the ground.

I ride with a guy who is 6'4" closer to 300lbs and he has a 155"

At your size, go with the 163. 4" on the snow is not going to change the way it rides on the flats anyhow. You'll be kick'en yourself for the 155 when you come out west.
Go with the 163 and trim of 1/2" off paddles, Will work fine with scratchers and still go darn good in the powder.

I ride a 155, but I am 5'8 175# soaking wet. Deep days I wish for the 163 but the 155 fits me for 95% of the riding.

Guys with the 155 will tell you to go with the 155. But when you have the 163, follow/lead everywhere with the 155, and they get stuck on the 155 it speaks for itself.

Love my 155 and I only ride in the mtns and mostly pow...
Specially considering the trail riding aspects, the longer track will push more on the trails.
Once upon a time I lived/rode in MN as well, so I do understand the concerns between trailability and deep snow capability.

But, ultimately, its all preference and rider determined..
I think the 155 will work just fine. The 163 just makes steep/deep-snow riding more noobish. ;) I kid...mostly... :P
I've realized a whole new joy for snowmobiling once I mastered 1 ski riding on the 155 Pro versus the point and shoot straight up tactics of my past riding style.

Kyle I have a 155 now and I'll put it this way. When I get stuck on a big hill I've never said, "Boy I sure wish I had a shorter track." It's only 4 inches difference on the ground, so it's not very noticeable but I figure I'll take every little advantage I can get at 6-3 220. It's not like I can't throw it around or something! I'm snowchecking a '13 163.

Yea, I'm leaning to towards the 163. Just wanted to get some input on it. This will be my first 163 and my first Polaris!

163, you will never go back shorter again. Unless you buy a 121 for home. The only thing that would change that is you go huge air in the mtns. The truely big air guys, yes, the 155 changes up better in the air. Other than that, I dare someone to pick a line in the trees on 155 that I can't pull on the 163. You don't know the extra length is back there behind in a negative way in the deep. Trails yes, but then again a 155 will push as well in the corners.

I just got my first pro with a 163....dont even notice the extra length......the sled is AMAZING with a 163 in the deep powder tree riding!
I was on the fence getting a 155 vs 163...after riding the 163 I know that I made the right choice......I would not trim the paddles!!! Just ride it!

I am a pretty big guy at 6' 4" and I ride a 163. Your size a 163 is going to ride just like a 155 for most of these guys telling you to buy a 155. I like the 163 because I can use the stock track or a 2.5" track and get great performance in the mountains without going to the 3" and all the hassles. A 3" will kill any fun you would have on the trail. BTW, Pros are not good trail sleds, great for the mountains but in my opinion(have both) the XP is way more fun on the trail. So if that is important to you see if you can test ride both. Also, I have been doing the Dan Adams clinics last year and this and he is pretty adamant about EVERYONE riding 163 tracks for the mountains. He is not a big guy at all, prolly 5' 9" and fit as hell and he whips that 163 around like you wouldn't believe.

I agree with most on the thread that a 163 would be the best choice for a big guy. I think that you will be happy with either. I own a 155 but got to spend two days on a demo 163 this year after a big storm. I love my 155 but I was not sad that I was on the 163 on a big powder day. I am 6' and 170 and had no problem making the 163 turn or manuever wherever I wanted. As I said before I really enjoy the 155 and have never had an issue with feeling that it didn't have good flotation in deep snow, but my next one will likely be a 163.
