What all is involved from going 155" to 163"? Can you just do new 163 rails and track? Is a tunnel extension required? Those that have done the conversion, is it worth it? We ride 9-10k elevation, mostly trees. I'm 220 lbs geared up.

Thanks

I have yet to ride mine but last season I preferred riding my buddies 163 better than my 155. I'm a little heavier than you suited up and it seems that larger riders prefer the 163. I chose to do rails, track, and VE tunnel extension on mine. After selling my 155 take offs, the whole project only cost me $100 in the end including the extension…..and I got to replace the ****ty stock bumper. Here’s a few pics of how it turned out.

I did this last year to my Pro 155 after coming of an 08 D8 163 and missing the extra track length.

I bought rail extensions and a used 2011 163" track and sold my 155" track for about what the 163" track cost.

I replaced the carbon fiber rear bumper insert with aluminum tubing from the local hardware store and riveted the snow flap to the bumper tube.

Without riveting the snow flap to the bumper the snow flap will eventually get sucked into the longer track and the plastic will get distorted and never stay out again.

Best $150 I ever spent on a snowmobile as far as deep powder performance and climbing.

I'm about 220 and ride from 4-6K' most of the time.

I'd highly recommend you do it, IMHO.

if you look at a cat side by side with the polaris, the polaris tunnel looks like its too long for the rails. the 163 rails with 155 tunnel looks sweet. good job on the snow flap mod!

No, that Cat's attempt at saving weight. Cut the tunnel short and use the flap pointed rearward as an extension. Long tunnels make 'em look like a mountain sled. As far as the Pro goes, heck I sucked in my flap on the Pro several times with the stock 155 track and tunnel. Especially unloading off the sled deck.
