155 or 163 for turbo?

I've had the same question a couple different times now. I turboed a Dragon and then a Pro. I think it comes down to how much you want to climb and how steep you want to go. We climb some pretty knarly stuff and I decided that that was more important to me than the boon-docking even though I don't spend a ton of time doing it. When we are all sitting at the bottom of a big climb trying to get the nerve up to hit a line that is pretty crazy I wanted the added confidence of the 163. On the flatter stuff and in snow that is not deep I do end up with 155 envy:face-icon-small-con

They both perform well and you'll have a ton of fun. The 163 does float better and the front end stays down a little better. The 155 seems to be quicker, more flickable and easy to manage. I think how much you weight factors in too. The more you weigh the more the 163 makes sense. IMO

I really cannot give an honest opinion becuase I have not ridden both but I went 163 just for the fact of I like to climb. I do like to play in the trees but I feel that I could throw the 163 around just as well as the 155 and wanted the longer track to somewhat keep the front end down better on a big pull.

I rode a 155 back to back with a 163 and even at 130# soaking wet i didn't feel much difference between the two in the trees. Both the sleds were turbo'd and we could control the ski lift a lot better with the 163, the 155 @ 10# was just a wheelie monster. For 2012 we snow-checked 2 163s instead of 1 of each.

i'm guessing both sleds were still running the stock skids

Will the 163 wheelie when I want it to? It's just soo fun to catwalk by someone and over the top of the hill. Does anyone know what length chris burandt rides. He makes it look pretty easy.

after three years on mine with the pc 153 i'm going to the 162 next year... dont think i would go shorter on a turbo ever again

I have run a 163" on my last 3 sleds(910,1140, Turbo Dragon). This year I decided to try a 153 PC on my turbo Pro. This is hands down the most fun I have ever had on a sled. I cant hoenstly say there was not a single time I ran out of track. The darn thing is so fast and makes so much track speed that is does great. I guess if I lived in Canada and had 3ft of fresh everyday on 1500ft pulls everywhere I may think otherwise, but so far I have been real happy. Maybe it is due in aprt to that fact that the Pro does not weigh very much and gets on top of the snow well, but I just love how easy it is to throw this thing around. I plan on running it another year or until a longer track spanks me.

I love the 155" length and enjoy boondocking and jumping with just a little climbing. I am also only 155 lbs and the trailer won't fit the longer sleds very easily anyways.

155 Skid mods..

What type of skid and or skid mods are you guys on the turbo 155's running to keep them in check? What have been your results? thanks!

My 155 with a Timbersled skid at 10 lbs is a wheelie monster. I am about ready to give up on the skid and try a Easy Ride.

Interesting, I was considering a Timber on my 163. I have a FTX set up stock rear skid on my Dragon. It is fantastic, but I am just pushing it too far and it is starting to be a wheelie monster. I tried a few things and it would either keep the front end down and not boondock well, or wheelie and boondock nice. I am hoping for something in between. I want my cake and to eat it too....

I was considering Timber cause Curt is selling the set up now with the Zbroz.. which I really wanted. Plus it would be a little cheaper because I could use my rails.

I have two buddies with EzRyde. One has a watercraft tripple with turbo and the other with a yammi tripple turbo. They both love their EZ Rydes. They have Brads(PSI1200 or whatever his forum name is) shock set up in their sleds though. Its not a set up straight from EzRyde. Maybe I need to lean towards the ExRyde.

Gonna turbo a pro next year should I do 155 or 163? What's burandt ride?

Burandt rides 155. If you are in the trees, especially going across or down, more then you are in the open pulling chutes do the 155. You can ride a 163 in the trees but you won't pull the kind of lines that you can on a 155. The ability to push the back in and whip it around and make it dance the way you want is much better on the 155. When going up the 163 will keep the front down better and float easier so like everyone else has said just depends on your riding style.

Save your money if you have a 163 and it still wheelies to much, dont buy a new skid. Buy the 155 rails and pull the skid back a full four inches. This is my summer project and should work awesome for next year, It will also kill the attack angle from 28 degrees down to 18 without a drop and roll.:face-icon-small-hap

IMO moving the skid back that far will put too far too much ski pressure on the front. But if you do it let us know how it works.

This set-up has worked great on the two sled I've done in the past. 1998 700 rmk, 2003 edge rmk. It's all in the set-up, once you figure it out it's all good. The only thing that might be an issue is the initial transfer will be a little slower but in deep powder I probably won't notice it, but that should be remedied by softening up rear shock spring. If you need less ski pressure on the new pro seems that that rear spring does a lot of great things.

What about an assault? Does the 155 skid mount the same as a pro 155? I'm thinking with the added adjustability of the shocks on the rear one could make it not wheelie so much. Does anyone have some seat time on a turbo assault?

I must be old, but I feel the 163" is so easy to ride it is a given, for me anyway, in lieu of the 155". Especially if you are going to do any chute slaying.
