I have a 2011 assault is it worth putting a used 5.1 on just wondering if any one has made any comparisons? Any info would be great thanks.

Need more info, where do you ride, how do you ride ect? If you are riding in the mnts than I would change if you are staying in the flatland leave it alone?

Here's the big question, are you happy with it? If so, no reason to change. Some guys like stiff tracks, even in the mountains. If most of what you're riding isn't super fluffy, a stiff track would probbably be pretty good for you.

I have the same sled & track I'm heading out west for the month of January.
I too, was wondering if those big lugs might be stealing more power than the traction they are providing.

I have a 2011 rmk assult, I live in the midwest. What I did was bought both. I found a take off for about 400.00, Love the assult track in the UP, But it trenches to much for me out west

The competition track trenches quite a bit in the deep snow, but boy does it hook up well in the spring or hard pack. I currently have a 5.1 that is trimmed and I'm hoping this will be a happy medium.

Thanks for the info im in a tough spot I live in mn so the comp track isnt bad for my one trip a year out west. But the comp track compared to the 5.1 in lower snow conditions makes the sled run much hoter and hooks up much better. And when in the deep stuff well she dose trench a bit. I may have the chance to switch out with an older 5.1 before it gets traded off so that the deal, keep the comp or take the 5.1. I was just trying to get some feed back before I have to decide.
I would realy like to know how the cut down 5.1 works on the pros thanks

I have the same sled and spend a lot of time riding in your neck of the woods . Comp. track works great as long as you have some snow to run in. Marginal snow and lake running on the staked trails require the scratchers down all the time on either track.. I switch to the 5.1 when heading west to ride powder. It's a much better track for the mountains.

in the pow the stock assault track is one trenching machine. never seen any track try to head to china so quick. on the other hand if its set up the thing hooks like no other. if i was gonna spend the coin to go all the way west even for one ride i'd buy the 5.1, and then hope for some new soft pow to ride it in!!!

I have an assault with both tracks also. I will be heading out to west yellowstone over new years. Can anybody from the area make a recomendation on which track would work the best with the snow conditions in that area?

I lasted two rides on the Assault with the excavation track. I have been on a IQ with the 2.4 track until this year. I personally did not like the assault track however we tend to have soft deep snow more than hard on the eastern side of Oregon. My assault now has a 2.4 track on it. Personal preference.

I did what other guys here did. I ordered my 12 with the Comp track because I was a ***** and ordered my sled with e/s and didn't have any other option. I did find a very nice take off 5.1 and it is going on my sled before we head to Yellowstone over new years. For the later trips depending on the snow conditions I may switch tracks again. I rode a trip in the Horns in April with the Comp track and it was awesome then.
