I watched the Yamaha R&D boys make a few saw cuts part way through then bend and weld. It's not advised for a permanent part. But would apply if you wanted to do a little R&D for a set of custom Ice Age rails.

Just a note of caution needs to be added; NOT ALL Aluminum alloys are weldable! Most of the high strength alloys are not weldable, like those Polaris and Ice Age use for rails. I can not speak for Doo, Cat, and Yammi. While it may appear to be welded, a crack usually forms right in the heat affected zone on one or both sides of the weld even if you can not see it.
