155-163-174 WHICH ONE

Ok we all know Polaris axys 2018 is the same sled. 2019 might be a different story.... At any rate I've owned 163" turbo and non turbo, and 155 I currently ride (3" power claw, will have bb 870 and kmod next year.) ride a 174 today and it was mean. While it feels heavier than my 850 doo it weighs a pound difference. With some power behind it I can't help but wonder how crazy it would be. Was pulling lines on it of chest deep trenches like cake.

Let's hear your opinions I'm torn big time. Love the 155 especially since I started air miles
 
155" on boost is like a wild child. Most consistently fun is 163" in my opinion but I really think having both is the best haha. Don't have a need for the 174" but on boost that could be a fun sled.
 
Like alot of thing it depends on what you want/do with the sled. IMO steep bondocking(if you weigh around 200#) a 163, lots of trail/medow bashing 155, "air miles" 155, under 180# steep bondocking 155, boost 163, hill climbing 163, I just don't get the 174 thing unless your a Putt-Putt type or a very good technical rider.
 
Friend of mine rides 174 and he kills every one off in trees. "Just gotta know how to ride it" he says... And a power mod of some sort is a must to get that sled moving. Look at Matt entz he rips the 174

He is a very good technical rider....I don't think a 174 is going to make someone that below average to average an instant pro rider. Just my .02

I fully agree it's deff not the sled to make you better. But a skilled rider may improve or expand bc of it. Personally I'm thinking about waiting till 2019 w new motor for another 155 but 2.6"
 
Buddy spent all day on axys and I think he's sold. He's a die hard doo guy said same thing that 850 was a boat compared but it does take a while to adjust. Going back and forth this year slowed my progression down some but I'm back to good now. I really wanna spend a full day on 174 before I decide next sled
 
I think the 174 is a possibility for me. I have been on a 155 for the last four sleds. I can get it about anywhere, it even goes really well in deep pow with my 225 lb butt on it. Yesterday was our extreme boondocking day where we tried to access some new openings we could see from the valley. My buddies were on a 162x3 Cat and a 174x3 Doo. The guy on the Doo is a good rider for sure but the 174 was giving him the ability to get around where normally I don't think he could have. Looks like a boon for even the average rider to me. He checked an 850 175". No Doo for me but the abilities of that super long track do not seem hindered much in the tight trees. It is probably less playful but it is amazingly capable.
 
Playful and Airtime and Wheelie Time are really important to me. That's why I try to stick w the shorter tracks. If I have to make a couple runs at a line to access the area that we are trying to get to or poach a bit to get over a big hill I'm ok w that. It's happened a couple times this year on massive pow pow days. Being the first to the top or the highmark no longer matters to me.
That's why I'm a shorty kinda fella.
The shortcomings of the shorty really are on the side hill. It'll wash out on very steep stuff before a longer track will.

I am of the same thinking. Been rocking the 155" since '13 in the mountains and the 121" here at home! You couldn't pay me to get rid of the 121"!!
