154 vs. 163

I am still undicided about the best track length for a new xp, maybe you could tell me you experiences and your dislikes and likes about each one. What are some of the advantages and disadvantages to the 163. I am thinking the 163 is the way to go but I would like some input. I ride in about 3-4 feet of fresh climbing along with just plain exploring throught the trees with frequent stops and playing around some. I am not a hardcore climber.

Thanks

Yep, 163 on the XP is the catz azz for general riding, playing, tree riding, climbing, exploring...everything. The 154 would be slightly better down the trail...but the 163 is far from bad.

I agree on the 163 especially if your a 225# to 250# plus rider you'll benefit from the floatation. On the other hand the 154track wil offer a slightly faster trackspeed and the 150# to 200# rider is and ideal fit.

Setup is everything.

I have both and they are different in the way they ride. No losser either way. You will not beat the 163 for all out bottomless powder. It just works better with the longer track. It will climb better and with less ski lift making it more controlable. The 154 is a little funner to ride. Quicker to lift the skis, caves a little tighter,a little easier to throw aroung in the trees and fun on the trail. My vote is for the 154 unless you are in bottomless powder all the time then 163 for sure. The 154 is also less money!

I agree, there are only a few select times a year wear the 163 will be a big advantage...and unfortunatly we have had very little of those days this year:mad:

Depends on riding style obviously, but if you're like me and like some jumping and dropping and tracking out all the avy safe small but steep slopes, and don't really care about climbing the biggest hill out there, the 154 or even the 146 is perfect. The 154 is the perfect do everything machine, the 163 if you are mostly on the climbing side of the scale, the 146 if you are mostly on the jumping side of the scale. Unless it gets deep this year (hopefully soon) I am gonna start wishing I had bought the 146. Riding around with all this track (154) and no deep snow. Edit - Oh yah, I am 185lbs and my buddy has the same sled, he's 230. I think it's more the riding you are into than how much you weigh. I have 2 other friends that come to mind who are both around 2 bills, and 1 that's about 220, all 3 of those guys are on the 146.

it all just depends on those one or two bottomless days a year, how many times you wanna get stuck, and personally i think the camoplast challenger 2.5 is the way to go if you are running the shorter length

i want a 159---154 can be a little short at time and the 163 is a little long --you cant loose with either but at 56 years old i like the 154--my son at 36 likes the 163 --i rde both and unless the snow is deeeep i'll take the 154---BRP screwed up not making the xp in the 159--best of both worlds--jmo
