153 verses 162?

I agree that on most Alaskan days, you can get around adequately with a shorter track, especially if you are a good rider. However, on those awesome pow days, it sure is nice to rip around and not get stuck and to be able to climb and go places where the short tracks absolutely can not go, no matter the experience of the rider.

That is exactly why I am looking at a long track.. I have a 136 and for the most part I can run with the long tracks in superman snow. But, last year when we had that excellent powder down in Placer at the end of March it was like pi$$ing in the wind even with the 2" paddle on it.. I have a bead on a couple of 53's and 62's that I am going to look at.. I would prefer a 62' at this point but it seems like a well setup 53' would be just as good for the most part..

Rode a 2010 153 M8 up at LL a few weeks ago, i'd take one of those in a special edition thank you!!!

121 is the way to go. Ive been riding a 151 summit 800 lately and it is pointless. I have been to turnagain 3 times, carter lake once and lost lake once so far this year and that track takes you anywhere so easily that its not even fun. Part of riding is getting stuck. Its not fun to point and shoot up a mountain in my opinion (which is what you do with a long track). also bent rails are a problem, I already went through a pair this year. But like every topic in this world, everyone has their own opinions.

I'll bet you I can still get stuck more in one day than you can even if I buy a 163.. :D Bring your extra shovel and a snobunje LOL

That includes you to Tim, Ryan, Nick, Doug.....

lol, that was on heck of a day at placer last yr. everyone got stuck on flat ground. You are still on the crossfire, right?

my 2.$ Jumped from a 136 to a 153 this year. So much nicer and don't think I would want a 162 to much track. If you use to be able to keep up w the guys on your 136 then you will have to problem w your 153. Half as much work, Twice as much ease. Go 153 if you want more, then extender her out..

Was that the day when you guys were out there and my crew rolled through and helped you guys out? :D

Doug, you cant go wrong with either track length. 53/55's you can carve harder and tighter, as Ultrarider stated. 62/63's chug along and can start and stop and cruz through most conditions. It really boils down to how hard you want to ride.

Last year when i met you, that was ok, i have been back there when you cant get up to Skookum, and it doesnt matter what your track length is, its just a matter of how deep a crater you would like to excavate.

Good luck with what you get and pray for snow

Hell, that was an awesome day.. It took us about 3 hours to get back to the base of the mountain heading up to the flats where we meet up with Live_Alaska and his crew..

I was running Ryan's M7 that day and a buddy was running my 136 Crossfire. Surprisingly he got to where we were going just not as fast.

That was the deepest pow I have ever ridden in up to this point..

That was us and you helped me out of a hole along with Deano, Race and a couple others I am sure.. The funniest part of that day was when Tim started up the base of a hill and ran straight into a cliff at the bottom. He couldn't see it due to the snow.. It was like watching him disappear into a wall of snow then come to an abrupt stop and do a header over the bars.. I guess I should say.. It wasn't funny until we realized that Tim was ok but naaa I won't say that :D

Oh, that was when I had my first Ghost Rider experience.. Thank God for alders :)

Yes it was Puff.

Still no luck on a sled eh Doug?

That sucks

I will keep an eye for ya. There was a ton on Craigslist at the begining of the yr. I dont know if you remeber or not, but a buddy of mine was with us that day at place. He was a red 01 rmk, well he picked up a 08 M8 snopro 153 for 6500 off Craigslist. i think it only has like 1500 miles.

No luck! I had one lined up for Thursday and I guess he decided not to sell it because we were setting up a place and time and never heard back. Had another sled I was looking at and never heard back from him after telling him I was interested. It wouldn't be so frustrating but people don't have the common courtesy of calling you back or shooting you an email letting you know. Your left hanging thinking that the deal is going down.

If i would have found the deal your buddy did I would have jumped on it. I had a good bead on a 162 but decided against it.. To long.. I am going to stick with a 153... If I can ever find one.. :(

I am open to a Poo 700 as well... At least it's not snowing buckets up here in the valley..

I haven't cried in a long time but damn am I getting close.. :( :(

I like the 153 the best so far for up here, but a 144 is a close second. Pow days are too few and far between it seems these days for the big tracks. Yes i ride a 162, yes its too much for here.

Thanks for the info.. that is just out of my price range. I found a couple of left over standard M8's at the dealer for $8,200. Wish I could have swung that for sure..
