anybody took a 153 skid and moved it back in the tunnel to make a 162 for better attack angle pro's and con's

While this sounds like a cheap easy solution to buying rail extensions, DO NOT DO IT! The 4 inch gap that you will have between the drivers and the front of the rails will welcome the slack side (bottom) of the track into the space and GUT your newly purchased track. Had a buddy that went through more than two tracks trying this stunt.
