153", or 162" ??? That IiiiIis... the question

I have a REV 162, 3pitch, and an Everest 154.
I loved the 162 in the deeep and it was ok in the medium pack also, but....pushy in the set up. You always had to break the track free to slide around in the set up...

The 154 is more nimble, especially in the spring, and unless it is 4 feet of fresh, I would rather ride the 154.

Eludnu hit it on the head,

Some people say they just ride 4 feet deep, all the time.... I say BS. I get maybe a weekend , maybe maybe 2 weekends of stupid deep.

X2!

I'm picking up my 154" XP tomorrow. :D :D :D

Buy whatever will fit in your trailer !! I had to alter my gas jug rack to get the longer track in my trailer but it was worth it !! >>>>.

1-6-2 period. Over 25 years plus of riding I have been on 136's, 141's, 144's, 151's, 156's and 162's. every inch makes a noticeable seat of the pants difference. A 162 is a good balance between deep days and hard pack. Killer in the steep and deep and manageable in the spring. I have been riding a 162 since 05, may kid have been on one since 06. Finally talked the wife into one last year. One season and she is pissed at herself for not listening to me three years ago. my.02
I have been about 2 shakes several times from pulling the trigger on a 174. Just can't quite convince myself to pull it around in the spring.

So, as I'm reading more and more.... most of y'all are recommending a 162.

My riding partner keeps saying the 153 is the way to go, and that the 162 isn't nimble enough.

ARGH!

I apologize, I'm one confused individual.... lol.... more like a blonde bimbo walking into a designer shoe store.... whatta I get!? LOL.

Brings to mind an old saying - "if you're not getting stuck you're not having fun".

I'm not saying stuck is fun per se, but there are sure a lot more challenges to be found with a shorter track. If the people you ride with are on 151-154" tracks, with similar rider skills, then that is what I'd do to unless they are the type that will upgrade on their next sled.

I fully agree, Been ridind for 33 years. I have went from 121 to 136 to 151 to156 to 159 and just put a 162 on my sled. Have heard all the negative comments before I went longer, longer, longer and each time I was so amazed at how AWESOME! it was. I'm sure when I ride with the 162 my personal comment will be - AWESOME, WOW, Will never go back!!!!

With you being over 200 lbs, the 162 would work well in most situations. I weigh 155, so I'm real happy with my 155 for boondocking and jumping.

Your buddy is telling you that because he knows way down deep, that he will be extending his if you buy the 162. On deep days he will not be able to follow you. SO BUY THE 162

I'll agree with the crowd here, I went from a 151" on my 02 RMK to the 163" on the new Dragon. The biggest change was the extra time I had to turn out of a climb before getting stuck and how much easier it was to go slow in the deep flat stuff. The new sleds are so much easier to ride that the longer track is all positive for mountain riding. The big track sucks for the fields and ditches around home though.

I only weigh 150ish and I don't have any problems with the 162 in the steep and deep or spring conditions. You just have to figure out how to handle the different snow conditions. Definately the 162!!
