15" wide track on an xp?

15" wide track

I cant decide what to do for 09, but my 08xp x 154 is going down the road.
I want something more nimble. What if I got a 163 xp x and put a 15" on it instead of a 16"? My rev felt more nibble than my xp. The Dragon is a little to much, the Xp not enough. I know Mark did it on his project XP. Yes I moved the handle bars back some.
I really have to yank the sled when the snow isn't chest deep. It should be easier to throw than it is. That is the only complaint about the sled I have other than the parts that, well that's another topic!
I'm 190-200lbs with gear, so that should'nt be an isue.

What do you think?

Take it for what you will, get rid of your swaybars, put an inner wheel kit on it and go man go.

I am in a wheelchair paralyzed from the mid chest down with a 154 everast and have no problem. My weight is about 185 and like I said in a wheelchair, cann't stand up ya know.

I guess I will have to give Mark a call and ask him why he put a 15 wide on his.
I think brand loyalty blinds some people.

Has anyone put a two kit inside the rails.
Did it change the way it cuts?

I have the two wheel kit and removed my sway bar. Like I said, no problems here. I dont know how much "realer" you want it. And BTW, brand loyalty has nothing to do with it. It has to do with rider abilities. Use your legs and steering abilities to make easier cuts. Also buy the foot holders, they work good. :D:beer;

2 wheel kit in the rear...no outside idlers on the skid..no sway bar....bump springs up on front shocks...bump center scock spring (you are 8" further forward than the REV)...then find the sweet spot on the running boards for your feet...BJ

15 Or 16wide? Learn To Ride The 16, It Gives You So Much More Float And If U Cant Handle The Extra Inch. Ride More..cause U Might Need A Bit More Time In The Saddle.

red rock

take out the sway bar soften the springs and put on skis that aren't so wide and they'll sink into the snow better. Simmons are a little narrower and it makes it easier to turn..

You can cut down the 16 to a 15 pretty easy. You wouldn't have to go looking for a 15" with the odd pitch. A good sharp utilitly knife and a straight edge will do it. A fine tooth saw blade on a skill saw will cut right through it also.
I cannot imagine that 1/2 inch on either side is going to help it handle better though. Spring conditions just suck. Side hilling on hard frozen snow sucks and is dangerous no matter what you ride.

Wanna sell your sled. Give me a PM.

We are talking about ability to slalom in shallow powder. The extra forwardness of rider is the problem. Taller guys it is worse cuz handle bars keep us standing forward. I am adding height and pulling it back some. BJ's roller kit idea to keep track out of way when pulling over and moving the outboard empty skag mount on the Pilots inboard by swapping skis could help. Have not tried suspension adjust but will. Someone suggested the longer A arm length may have something to do with it but my 97 Mountain Max had long A arms and it is still a slaloming fool. Weight back is the key I think...why Polaris slaloms better in shallower powder and our XP have gyroscopes in them. Goose

Sway bars been out since new.
I did move the handle bars back some.

I'm done for the year, but I like the two wheel kit idea and movin the outside wheels to inside.

The track does float good. But thought about ordering 163 and doing the 15 wide.
Best of both worlds?

If you want a sled that handles like a Polaris or a Cat go buy one next year and get the 15 wide track for free. The scud rides flat in shallow snow you can do some adjustments like tilt the bars back try different preload settings to fine tune to you riding style but you cant change it to ride like another brand of sled by adding a wheel kit or skis. I think you are giving up an advantage by going to a 15".
