yea, i was wondering what you guys think would be better a 144'' or 151''
im riding a 800 mod right now and it has a 144'' under it. just thinking about if making it longer would be better for the powder.

Read the thread an end to track lenght debate on this forum. It might help you or just confuse the he!! out of you. My opinion if it matters is if you ride in the steep and deep the longer the track and the deeper the paddles the better off you are.

I think you would be better off saving for a new sled. Unless you find a good deal on a used track. 151 will float better in the pow than the 144 for sure, but 3.5" of extra track on the ground isn't worth spending $500.

I went from a 144 to a 151 and I would recommend going with a 156 or 159 if you want better flotation :)

depends where you live and what the snow is like.. where I'm at I have a 151, and am on the big side compared to everybody I ride with most are in the 140's..yes we get a ton of powder here and things to climb, but the snow is normally heavier then further north, or east, you rarely see anything above a 153 around here.. I've never seen a 160+ anywhere but on the showroom floor they just don't sell.

IMO if you go too long you take the fun out of riding. There's nothing like getting stuck in deep powder and digging your way out:) The longest track in my riding party is a 151 and the rest of us have 144's.

Unless you trail ride get the 151". You will notice it in the powder and hardly notice the length over the 144".

well we built the sled for the mountains and stuff like that, but the only track we had at the time was a 144. but i have a friend whoose selling a 151 and a 156. my dad is probably gonna put the 156 under his and then through his 151 under mine. then were probably gonna drill the track to get even more floatation!

porting the track will make your flotation worse, snow has the same property's as water...ie- ported track sleds don't water skip for nothing, but non ported ones seem like they wanna go over backwards!

porting your track will only give you less rotating mass imo, and i know most people are about 50/50 on the whole subject!...also i would go 174 but thats me, if not you next best would be the 156x2.5 or 159x2.5...etc

I got a 141" on my 500 and a 144" on my 700. If I had the money I would put a 151 on my 700. So with that said, Id go with a 151x16 if possible. Just my .02.

i just did the same thing on my rev, unless you get a good deal, its not really worth it, lug height is what your after.

if you have a 144x2 right now get yourself a 151x2.25 or 2.3 or something like that, you will REALLY enjoy the increase height.

honestly, i loved my 144, the 151 is good for the girlfriend not getting stuck to much, heck i think i get my 162 stuck more as i try harder stuff.

As stated above porting the track just gives you less rotating mass and less weight, it will not give you more floatation the more the track is ported the less floatation you will have and that is not just my opinion that is fact. But i would go with the 151 i have a 154 and a 163 and unless you have 4' of powder they really won't shine over the 151. Actually i sometimes take the mt cat with a 136 just to have fun on the little hills that are normally really easy to climb with the longer tracks and really trying to make a hill is the funnest part of sledding along with digging yourself out lol.

Well, we also have a 174, but where going to put it under a 1050 tripple that where building. its gonna be killer!

my dads 07 rev 800 has a 151 and i have an 06 rev 800 144 and he prefers mine over his..... way better maneuverability in the powder, hills and trails. but it doesnt have the balls to make it the extra foot to get over the top. i would go 151 but it is really personal preferance.
