144 or 151?

C

Clarke673

Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
I already have a 151x2.25x15 maverick track but i am really thinking that a 144x2.5x15 would do just as good in the deep and be lighter for jumping.

The sled is a 05 IQR with a 800 in it. I do all forums of riding but really don't see the benefits of the 151 over the 144. Do you really notice it the length?

Anyone want to trade? Buy my track?

Brand new, never been on a sled.

What would you guys do?

i agree, although the vast majority of people on here will not. i went from a 155 on my 07 iq to the challenger extreme 144X15X2.5. i'm quite happy with it and wouldn't go back. although with it being fully clipped and a 2.5" track it is not light. in fact it is about 5 lbs heavier than the 155 was. i was thinking of pulling every other clip but then there is the whole lighter weight vs. more sliding resistance (rubber on hy-fax). haven't decided yet but for now it is easier to leave the clips on. another track to watch is the new cat powder claw. that is a nice track and i think they make it in a 141? the cat guys would have to tell you for sure though. good luck and enjoy.

i can easily outclimb my buddies 144 and the turning is about the same. I guess the only diff for me is jumping....Id rather be on top of the mountain than hit some jump though....

i have a maverick, if your gonna see anything but epic deep pow, go with the extreme, the mav ROCKS in the soft stuff but it is to soft for the more setup snow and just bends really bad.

144x2.5 gets my vote

you won't notice a huge diff either way. the little track is still gonna get there on all but the fluffiest days.....but you will have to ride it harder to climb.....no putting around.

Thats another issue. I want to run a hard compound track and run every third window clipped and also i am going to port it and cut 1/4" off every other lug and put screws in them to stiffen the track up more for hard launches.

Weights not an issue, that much. All are heavy and i can always drop my gear ratio.

Definetly the 144.

That way you will get used to something that turns!

Less is more, but that's hard to convey to folks that hoard more than one ski!

I do all forums of riding

You should try riding the hills instead of just here on the forums ;) :eek: :beer;

If you looking for jumping then shorts the way to go. It will get you most places most days and will be mo fun for flying!
