144"-151" swap

Just replaced my 144" track and rails with 151" track and rails in a 2005 edge RMK. The track is tight against the end of the rails in the rear, with the rear wheels adjusted all the way forward. Any Ideas? Everything i have heard is i don't need to drill and re-locate the skid mounting holes. True or false?

did you use the same skid and just swap rails or did you swap entire skids? If you did the first, check to see that the rails came from the same generation/model. Measure the distance from the front of the rail to the front mounting hole to make sure they are the same.

The rear arm bolts into the tunnel in a different hole in a 136-144 compared to a 151 and longer suspension. I'll try look to tell you which hole it should be in. do you have the rear scissor bolted into the right spot on the rail? And the rear shock mount were it couples to the front arm do you have that right? Have seen those cam over and it makes the track tight.

Different rails only. The rails are edge . There are two large holes in the rear hanger, moved from fwd hole to rear hole. Pretty much matched everything to my buddy's 151 edge. Will have to look at the attach of the rear shock to see if it did cam over. Hopefully that's it...easy fix if it is.

I was talking to a reputable aftermarket company today about this, and they said that the whole skid needs to be moved in order to keep the same geometry and function. Supposedly the holes on a 151 tunnel are in different spots than a 144. I am looking to do the same thing and I am curious to see if you have ridden it yet and if it worked the same as before.

If it helps at all:
My 04' 159" edge has the rear torque arm mounted in the farthest back set of holes and the 03' 144" edge parked next to it has the rear torque arm mounted in the front set of holes. I'm not sure if the front torque arm is mounted the same distance from the drivers on both setups, although I would suspect it is.
Good luck on the long track projects! Its worth it!
