14 assault, 560 miles, lost a cylinder :(

About 2750 and 2 seasons Biltit. They were fine at the end of last year. I was just lazy for storage. I`m pretty sure it is a deposit-corrosion thing but my local fuel injection bud just shook his head and said get new ones.

The pto one actually dripped running pump pressure past it and the mag side stayed moist.

So what is the proper procedure for storing these things? Seems like we have had cat efi engines for the last 10 years without needing to touch the injectors.

Oh yea, almost forgot. I do not move the sled until it hits 100 degrees water temp. After sitting and bsing for awhile, I start it, and do not move it until the water temp stabilizes, and if it stabilizes below 100 degrees, I wait.

Don't have an 800... but have heard recommendations from 2 dealers that it is beneficial to let it warm up to at least 100 before running. As well, should pull over at 150 and let it cool down just to be safe. This is preferred running temp for these engines. So they say...

Geo!! How ya been man!! I started it up then walked in my house put on my helmet strapped it down looked around for goggles found them slapped them on and went out and started riding. Was about wo miles into the ride when it dropped the cylinder i thought it was fouling a plug so i pinned it for a couple secs didnt change tone at all (from sounding like a tundra) so i shut it down. Thst spark plug pic is right after i shut it off (was still idling on one cylinder!!)

Second ride of the year first one was about 20 miles. No off season things done to it except cover and 2x4 's under the track.

I have never done any off season storage stufff to any dirtbikes or snowmachines and this is literally my first blown up sled yet (that i bought new!)

it is hpak, and they are a great dealer! Part of the reason i switched ti polaris !

:)

Pros take forever to warm up. If it took you less than 5 minutes to get your helmet on it probably wasn't enough. Side by side to an IQ 600 CFI my '15 800 takes 3x as long to reach 100 degrees.

Hey ak.

I don't usually do much except make sure it is slobbering in oil but this is the first time I didn't use the sled gas for the lawnmower and dump in some fresh so I'm blaming it on that.

It'll be interesting to find out the dealers conclusion.

Didn't slip into deto mode, and dealer didn't see it in the codes? Is there a chance you got bad fuel, stock head, right?

bone stock! and fuel was just put in but had about 16th of a tank of fuel from last season (just a little bit in the bottom of the tank)

never seen any lights or anything funny on the gauges. just dropped the cylinder!

Predetonation? Hmm ok, new Poo term to describe reason for piston issues. Combination of pre-ignition and detonation both taking place at the same time. No win situation for the piston lol. Dang.

Add fuel (lots if you feel like it) where your thumb likes to be while cruisin'. Light load- low throttle positions, cool pipe and sensor, mid-upper r's to help scrub,,, equals lean and eventually a bit too big. MO.
