13 eco mpg

I actually noticed this higher trans temp as well. Mine ranges from 180-190 driving empty. I have not pulled yet but I can imagine it will go up to 225-235. A buddy of mine has an 11 3500 silverado single wheel we took west and trans temp pull 4 place with that was always around 130 even crossing the pass by Laramie.

I have a 13 fx4 6.5 box max tow EB, I am coming off of chevy's with 6.0 motors and this thing is unreal in power. I have a 27' enclosed car hauler weighs 4800# empty. We took it out in feb with 5 sleds and everyones gear and gas cans with five guys in the truck. And this truck pulled it like a dream. Tranny temp never got over 205 pulling up the top of the hill. We had about 10000lbs we were pulling with everything in the trailer. We ran 75 mph and averaged 8.6 with 15mph crosswind. I think it may have shifted out of 6th gear 5 times on 800 miles home. Empty my truck isnt great but still better then the 6.0 chevy gas. The most impressive was the last couple of miles up to snowy mtn lodge on the steep incline, my chevy last year with one less sled and guy was in 1st gear when we got to the top doing about 18 mph tranny temp was 225. The fx4 pulled the same grade in 4th gear at 55 mph with no problems, could have gone faster but it is pretty curvy. Anyway this is one of the funest trucks I have ever driven. oh ya and we ran 87 or 89 octane fuel all the way out and back. Truck only had 2500 miles on it when we left.

Thanks for you input. I will give a liitle update. So far I have 1200 miles on it and I'm on the thirs tank of gas. First tank average was 16.1. Second tank was ****ty gas fron a craphole station and I got 13.9 and felt like it had no power. This third tank I have 240 miles on and I'm at 18.7with mostly country driving on all 3 tanks. Lifetime fuel milage on the truck is 17.3. 60 mph and usual starting and stopping. I love this rig and I'm glad I got all the bells and whistles. Nothing beats cruisin in a nice truck

UPDATE. I now have 12000 miles on truck. I've done some towing this summer pulling a 19' bass boat. Got around 14 pulling that. Just did a 500 mile empty road trip and got 21 empty. Lifetime milage from day 1 is 17.5

Good mileage!

I have the same truck and gear ratio (3.55). The empty mileage is just amazing. If I stay out of the pedal, strictly highway (55-68), I get 21-22 mpg all day long. A typical trip is in lite mountainous terrain (SL to 1500 ft) from Anchorage to the Kenai Peninsula

Mix of city/highway puts me in the 17-18 range.

The towing numbers aren't like my old Cummins but I'm realistic and driving empty much more than towing. No diesel additive. No outrageous 20% more for sludge fuel. No front end at 40K. (Hopefully) No transmission change at 70K. I am over my diesel kick, big Ford fan here!

After much an analysis of internet postings about the new Ecoboost F150, you will get anywhere between 7-31 mpg. :face-icon-small-ton

You couldn't be more right on. I know a guy who drives a 2012 xlt crew eco with 3:55 gears for work. He's always empty and travels 1000-1500 miles per week all over mn iowa and both dakotas. He averages 13-14

Dogmeat,

I read a lot of forums for mileage and true enough there is a wide range. The upper end (31) is BS. If I coast down a hill and take a picture of the mileage it'll be quite high. The low end, who knows what's going on.

So far, mine is not a lemon, the mileage is great. I am extremely happy with it.

I do think you should put an asterisk by all those numbers. You live in MN which has collectively the slowest speed limits in the country. My ram runs at least 3mpg better when I'm working in MN as opposed to the Dakotas. Just sayin.

12 eco

I have a 12 eco and at 1000 miles I put 295 65 20 Nittos on mine, the thing looks cool as hell but it killed the mileage. I get 12- 12.5 in town. I know since it has bigger tires I am getting a little better then what it says. I took it from NW iowa to Laramie last year with a 4 spot aluminum 4 sleds and averaged about 8 doing 75-80 the whole way. Mileage is what it is I wish I got close to that 21 but oh well I love the truck and the power

Buy and programmer and adjust your wheel size so the truck know what you have on it. It will help shift points as well as speedo calibration.

ecoboost and towing

I have 12 with the 5.5 ft box and 3:55. Only use for towing sleds or atv. no commuter trips on this pickup. tons of torque. hang with stock diesels. 14 mpg more or less in s. Dakota and wy. at 80 mph. on interstate. I really wonder how people drive this pickup every day and not get a lot of speeding tickets. Does not really seem to matter what trailer I put behind it. Milage is about the same. Started out at about 11 and has gone up ever since. I can tell you that it will pull out on a wy mountain and go from 45 to 100 to pass a line of traffic in a very short time. they are a speck in the mirror in a short time. I have seen tranny temp. climb to about 207 degree on a long mountain climb with the pedal to the floor. I had a 72 mustang cobra with a 302 boss, this thing is the most fun to drive since that car. sure wish that car had a motor like this. has anybody drove one of the Taurus sho cars with this motor. that has to be unreal power and torque.
