'13 Dodge HD

I feel like there may be some miss prints in that article which is weird because allpar is generally very accurate. In late 2011 models the 6.7 CTD was already rated at 350 hp and 800ft/lbs. And that carried over to the 12's as well. I don't understand why they would detune the motors.

allpar sucks. its always filled with misinformation!

AGREED

Why do they detune the six speed manuals? Is the clutch/tranny not capable of handling the power? I would be interested in going manual next time (with all the troubles i have had with autos lately), but not if it's detuned that much!
tranny will hold up to about 650whp not bhp just fine unless you start doing 3rd gear clutch dumps. The clutch won't hold much more than stock.

Not to change the subject, but I have a 2011 dodge and I bought it used, and don't know how to determine what level of cummins I have, I have read its a 300hp 600 torque, and that its the 350/ 650, and yes I have read its a 350/800. so how do you tell what I actually have, any quick easy way to tell. It has the 6 speed auto transmission.
So Dodge guys tell me how to tell, thanks in advance.

Is it a 2011 or a 2011.5? The half year is when the 350/800 came out.

Dang!
I really like my 07 5.9 still but the new ones are really nice looking, especially the interior, wow.
850ftlbs from a stocker is impressive too. That's about what I'm getting (I guess) with the Bully dog turned up, rollin coal everywhere.
Be interesting to see real world mileage #s with def now. Think the Cummins was keeping up already in the mileage dept without it.
To think I gave $30k for my Mega 4x4 with 10k mi on it, and that seemed like alot of money, the new fully loaded ones are going to be a $70k truck I bet.

Can't wait to get a '13 Ram......................in 2020!

No comparison between the 3rd and 4th gen the 4th gen's are a ton nicer. Actually nice interiors and seats. The quality feels at least 2x higher.

2011's were 350/650 unless you have the manual

no no no.....

manuals have yet to be over 350/650 no matter what year. this is opposite of dodges HOs of the past. in the earlier gen's, the only way you could get the HO with more power was in the manual. it is completely reversed now.

autos went to 350/800 in 2011.5. as others have said, you can tell by the HO badge on the tailgate. i tore all my badging off, so i dont know how one would tell. maybe there is a digit in the serial number..... to my knowledge there is nothing visible under the hood, its all tuning

The Allpar info is correct

07.5-12 G56 (6 speed manual) trucks are rated 350 hp/610 ft lbs

I think they are trying to keep the clutch intact while keeping the engagement smooth.

Also, I'm not sure how emissions are addressed with manual, as its way easier to blow black smoke with a stick.

I had an 01 6 speed and 03 auto. I didn't have any problems with the auto, but I just like driving a stick shift.

Its a shame the Cummins is the only full size truck you can get a manual tranny in. Americans have gotten way too lazy!

Would love to row the gears in my Ecoboost!

I used to be a manual transmission guy too. But now I have a sweet 6 spd with gear changing ability. Why go manual? Ever been in bumper to bumper traffic with a manual transmission? I suppose there are still people who have to have a manual but the new autos are beefy enough to handle big power while still providing awesome features.

Lol

Actually I bought my 03 with an auto because I thought I was going to move to Seattle. And yes, sitting on I-5 in bumper to bumper is awful with a stick.

But in Montana there is not really any bumper to bumper traffic.:)

My truck is not my daily driver. I only use it tow sleds and dirt bikes. No short trips and around town driving. And I do use the truck for camping and hunting in the mountains. Pretty much ideal for a stick shift.

I just enjoy driving a manual. Maybe I just need a sports car too!

I wonder how the detuned cummins with the manual would compare to the higher hp/tq motors in fuel mileage?

you would think they could throw a good dual disc clutch in from the factory instead of knocking off 200lbft of torque. if people got the money to pay $60k+ for a truck I'm sure they wouldn't mind another $1800 for a good clutch. unless it is the g56 that can't handle it, i know die hard pullers usually swap them out for the older nv5600(?) for the durability. just curious, if the older 6spd is so much stronger then why'd they change them?

i to prefer the manual trans, i like the control plus they're just a lot funner to drive. i wish i coulda found a manual dmax when i bought mine but around here u rarely see them let alone see one come up for sale. the mileage is usually better to, my buddys got an 04 lb7 dmax with the zf6 and he averages around 20mpg around town hand calc'd (no joke i'vs calc'd it myself) and i got another buddy with same truck but allison and he only sees 15-16 in town and my lly/alli only gets 14-15.

I can't recall if the 6.7's have it or not, but all of the 5.9's had a sticker on the valve cover (drivers side I think) that stated version/hp/tq. I would think the 6.7's probably have that too.

You'd have minimum 350/650. If it's later year and the HO package was ordered you'll have a 350/800.

when I saw "frame mounted fuel filter" I instantly regretted ordering a 2012.......anyone wanna buy a 2012 Longhorn?

the cpl tag no longer has the power rating on them.

the HO's have a badge on the rear tailgate

Just bought a 2012 3500 mega Laramie, this is the third Dodge that I have owned. First was a 09 3500 mega and the an 2010 2500 crew. I have alway been a GMC guy up until I bought the 09. When Dodge changed the styling in 2010 they surrpassed GM in comfort and style. I dont think the 2014 GMC's are going to be that much different than what they are now.

GM has a new interior for '14 - that has been confirmed. I was hoping they would increase the size of the crew cab but it looks the same to me. They will also make the extended cab four doors like Dodge does. New intellilink GPS/driver system. I didn't get GPS/DVD in my 2011 Denali because it was crap.

thats too bad they didnt make the cab bigger to compare with dodge and ford's crew cab.

So on the diesel why is it so much less power with a six speed manual transmission ?
Cummins Diesel 385 @ 2,800 850 @ 1,600 Aisin ASC69RC (Ram 3500)
Cummins Diesel 350 @ 2,800 660 @ 1,500 Six-speed manual
Cummins Diesel 370 @ 2,800 800 @ 1,600 68RFE six-speed automatic
You lose 35 hp and 190 ft lbs ? what gives ?

Hell with that i bought a Longhorn and the interior looks way better than the 2013 in my own opinion. And i like it so much i went and bought a Mega Cab for my wife. Its chipped and walks all over my Longhorn now FML. Back to the big thing i think one main reason to stay with mine would be that dang exhaust fluid. Dumbest thing anyone could put in a diesel.

Because it is tuned down because the stock clutch and flywheel combo will not hold up for the long term.
