12'vs13' drive shaft!

To drop weight.

The 2013 driveshaft is aluminum and lighter.

The shape of the shaft and hole in the drivers are different as well.

The 12 and 13 shafts are interchangeable though as long as the shaft and drivers are used as a set.

Avid products makes drivers for 11/12 RMK's and 13 RMK's.

Here is a pic of the aluminum driveshaft on the 13 pro. I snapped this pic while installing my skid back after powdercoat

Also looks like the idler bearing on the driveshaft isn't greaseable.

Does the lower cogged gear wheel (for the final drive belt) add to the length of the axle? Does the new belt gear have the same spline dimensions as the old system? 550iq

Are the splines the same from a sprocket to the pulley? I think the new shaft is longer but can't confirm as I did not measure mine when it was out.

Why doesn't Polaris use extrovert drivers and dump the middle driver?

because then they would have to cut the rails shorter and potentially create a track stabbing situation. easily fixed with an anti stab kit of course but polaris might not see it that way

Snapped this pic of a 2012 Driveshaft on a 2013 belt drive.

Confirmed with Polaris factory engineering that the 2012 Driveshaft will bolt onto the 2013 Belt drive (and vice versa).
