1200 Brp 4 Stroke

The latest topic on DOO forum
Here is my 2 cents
The 1200 only revs 7800 max thats about 7600 climbing with only 130 HP compared to the nytro 1050 revs 9200 max 8900 climbing with an under-rated 130 HP. 500 lbs compared to 550lbs the nytro sheds 50lbs easy for a few extra bucks. BRP has been working on this 1200 engine for more than a few years I say they need some advise from Yammi:D

at this point, it's a shorty, and it's still has not been released. BRP is notorius for claiming their sleds weigh less than they doo. The long track version, will be at or more, than the Nytro. My guess.

Pretty funny the way they rag on the 4 strokes as being heavy and unable to compete. Now they see the success Yamaha is having with the 4 strokes and they are not content with their 2 stroke slice anymore, they want the whole pie. Some competition will just make it better for consumers anyway.

In a fist fight between the Japanese and the Qubekers, I will take take the Japanese evey time. Unless they fight on skates, then I would think a draw.

Yeah and we all know Yammi never lies about their weights. Ooops I forgot that Yammi is the king in that department.And Im sure Doo has been working on this engine for a couple years, just like Yammi has been working on the Nytro for a couple years too.

And I dont think the new 4 tec is supposed to compete with the Nytro. I think its more competition for the Vector. Either way we all win when new tech is introduced.

Yuppers everybody wants a slice of the pie, but it has a lot to doo with the earth-muffins BS about 2 strokes, I would have to say that soon there will be no two strokes or at best a 2 stroke that's so clean it will be two spendy for the masses. And as stated above more choices is way better for us Ginny pigs. Dino

The literature that I have seen shows a graph directly comparing it with the Nytro. And btw the vector is no more! Glad to see them trying to better themselves though.

As a DOO guy, first let me say..... This is very good for Yammie, competition breeds technological advances. 4 strokes are the future, we all know that, but unless other manufactures make the attempt, technology will never crest the mountain of challenges! Love my buddies NYTRO (turbo'd), but I really love the lightweight handling of my XP. Yammie deserves a huge pat on the back for the NYTRO!! Can't wait to see the two corporations drive each other to improvements, It is all about the sport in my opinion. Push the manufactures for better product, after all, sleds are the price of cars now-a-days!:eek:

The 1200 only revs 7800 max thats about 7600 climbing with only 130 HP compared to the nytro 1050 revs 9200 max 8900 climbing with an under-rated 130 HP. 500 lbs compared to 550lbs the nytro sheds 50lbs easy for a few extra bucks. BRP has been working on this 1200 engine for more than a few years I say they need some advise from Yammi:D

So with that said, the rev 1200 should have more torque, which is good for the mountains.
Well I guess apples to apples can be compared, these sleds in stock form should be good trail riding sleds.

you are exactly right. BRP claims the 800 weighs 439, it doesnt, it weighs 451 with no gas and no oil. and have any of you noticed, when skidoo compares the 800's. its always skidoo's short track vs mountain sleds?? and those driveshafts, woah boy. BRP has their heads up thier a*sses

Why is BRP trying to re-invent the wheel, they should just drop in a light-weight version of their watercraft engine into the XP chasis and dominate the market:eek:. The Nytro is built to 1050 cc for racing purposes.:beer;

I sure hope BRP gets some control on their quality control for next year. They really shat the bed this year in that department. I'm sure this new 1200 will give Doo owners a motor that you don't have to worry about when your out riding in the back country. Good for the competition !

so summitboy ready to snowcheck one? lol. just wait till the second one shows up! first ones to compete with the nytro. guess what number 2s for?:beer;

Lol!!!!!

BRP will have enuff trouble getting the "1st" one to last all season, let alone bring out the "2nd" one!!!! oh yeah, that's how they keep the customers......... bring something new & improved out "better than the last one" !!!

T

can't wait to see all the "4-stroke nay sayers" from the Doo side, when they brag up their's!!!
Good luck guinea pigs!!!!

On their add they compare it directly to the new 130 from yami caliming more torque and hp and its a 3 banger....go figure...be kinda neat to let them snocross it:eek:

correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the 4 stroke skidoo a touring sled?
haven't they had 4 stroke touring sleds before?
the big debate is whether a 4 stroke belongs in a mountain sled! work sleds and touring sleds have had 4 strokes for many years, and not just Yamaha's.

yah:rolleyes:i dont see brp dominating any of the 4stroke markets yamaha is #1 or 2 in just about every 4stroke market if brp can dominate yammi i will buy one:rolleyes:.oh yah what do you think yammi has for next year,my guess another step ahead & they already got a few years in the bag & it will be interesting to see if that chassi will take the weight of that motor.:beer;

Who gives a rats a$$ about snow cross ? Deep riding has fug all to do with snowcross ? You Jackson Hole idiots and tight through the trees idiots have got to get a grip on reality. Yamaha is here to stay and Doo better get a grip and build something that doesn't require a helicopter and 10 trips to the dealer to worry about ! On glue ???

Absolutely.

So what is this thread about.. a 130 hp mountain sled?:confused:

well the way it started it was comparing the two sleds 1200 to the 1050 then it ended in the moutains, have you seen the motor design it seems very complicated, and tons of moving parts that dont really need to be there, with looking at my motor theres seems way heavy, and with there power band i dont think she will pull like ppl are saying compared to the 1050 does is even say how much touque that motor is making because without that your fugged thats what the 1050 has and tons of it.
