12 volt heater in trailer

I see lots of guys putting furnaces and ducting in their trailers, but what about just a simple 12 volt heater to turn on on the ride home just to add a little heat to the trailer to melt some of the snow out? Not worth it? Has anybody done this?

Don't think it would put out enough heat. Or move enough air. You will have a giant aluminum heat sink in 75MPH winds trying to pull all the heat out.

That's a good point. Only reason I wonder if it would work is you can tell a difference in inside vs outside temps if you pull warm sleds in then shut the doors. It will normally be above freezing inside

Can't imagine anything DC would ever stand a chance of generating enough BTUs to make a difference.

I really don't think a 12volt heater could put out enough heat to do any good. I've been running the 120volt heat tape built into my ceiling AC unit while I'm working in the trailer the last few nights. Its been in the 40s and if I turn it on for about an hour it will add around 10degrees. Propane isn't to hard to install and will warm a trailer up a lot faster.

You could install an inverter with a deep cycle battery and run a space heater. Don't know how fast it would heat up but should put out more heat than 12 v. The other plus to this option is that you will have access to 110 anywhere you go.

Get a big buddy propane / 12v heater. They work great

I went this route. Seems like it really works well in my size of trailer less one thing....it won't stay on! I leave the ceiling vent open when running to help let humidity out but every time I turn it on and leave the trailer for an hour or so, I come back and it has shut itself off. I don't know if it doesn't have enough ventilation and the O2 sensor is tripping it or what...
