12-08-17 - Aerial Video of Mt Baker

Beautiful little edit thanks for sharing. I love footage like this......many people will never ever get to experience the mountains like we get to or be able bodied enough. Footage like this allows them to see and experience what they may never have had the opportunity to otherwise.

I don't feel this is illegal either.........nobody owns the air space above. Maybe it would be not real courteous to someone trekking out in the wilderness but by no means is this illegal. If so you wouldn't be able to fly aircraft of any sort over wilderness as drone's are governed by the FAA just like aircraft.

Thanks again for posting........love the views!!

I've had moments (as I'm sure all of us have when riding), where I've just stopped to take in the view and said those exact words to my wife.

I've told her countless times, people just have no idea there is a whole other world like this up above the clouds, all pristine and white...blue sky and sun rays...

I've told her I feel very fortunate we're able to experience such things and never take it for granted.

Chris captures these moments perfectly...thank you again Chris, and keep up the great work.

The below pics are just some of those aha moments the wife and I have shared when we were out...that was a beautiful day up at Sugarloaf Lookout.

and Friday on Mt Baker... we couldn't hear the drone once it got 20ft away from us, the wind noise coming down the valley drowned it completely out. Not to mention the glacier calving, all the heli-tours, airplanes, and USAF military aircraft training that goes on around that mountain.... If you were standing on the tippity top of Lincoln the time I flew by at about 35mph you might have heard a quick "whirr" for about 2 seconds... nevermind the all day noise of sleds in the NRA (oh the humanity)

people lose their friggen minds over a 2lb electronic quadcopter with a camera that "leaves no trace" but don't bat an eye when people go sightseeing, shooting photos, and heli-skiing in noisy airplanes and heli that burn 10+gal/hr over "their" precious wilderness...

Thanks for the attempt at clarification. As far as I could tell it was illegal, and didn't want the original poster to be held responsible. I guess now, with all the views, it's written in stone where the flight was!
While my personal opinion of the Mt Baker Cheerleaders stands, (mainly stemming from overpopulation issues), I am trying to grasp the concept of not paying attention to laws, or researching "grey areas" of laws in order to protect the places I go....but it will take time. I'll just sit back and take the HATE spewed upon me, waiting for my moment of clarity. May the LORD be with you.

You are truely a savior, a beacon of light for us all. Your genuine worry for the original poster comes through so deeply and truely in your word choice and attitude, I should have seen it. Good luck in your continued journey of digital hall monitoring, I’m not sure why we even have things like police, Forrest service, fines and fees when we could just look to you for approval, guidance and interpretation.
Orrrrrr is it just that our videos help grow the local screen in a way that might threaten the fact that you just want the mountain and it’s riding areas all to yourself.......

Metzger I get why you are trying to defend the video but for a guy that is so tech savvy with all your toys I would think you would be smart enough to know that his YouTube channel is public and he can profit from views of the video. Sure the video is cool but why don't you make it private and keep it between you and your friends and keep this crap off public forums? If you want to get technical what is being done is wrong and the people that would fight you on this have way more money than the sled community can and/or will put up to fight them...

Chad it’s obvious you and people like you are all only worried about having to share th mountain and it’s riding areas. I enjoy making videos and sharing it with friends and families. If you think Chris or I make ANY money from YouTube, you’re terribly mistaken.

YES! You are 100% correct, which is why I used the term Mt Baker Cheerleaders. I am not from the mindset or background of "growing scenes" or overpopulating limited riding areas through social media exposure. I am entitled to that opinion and will try the rest of my riding days to spread that mindset to others. Much like Proselytism - Wikipedia.
I just want some pow from time to time, but do have the ability to move to Canada once your scene develops.

I've never been worried about sharing a mountain with anyone as long as the mountain is open to me. I don't have any hidden spots I ride and anyone is welcome to follow me out of the parking lot. I just know the environmental Nazi's that are trying to get everything closed and parading around the grey area and posting it in open forums doesn't do anygood for our cause. I know you guys aren't trying to make a profit from the videos and I never said I didn't enjoy them but it's still fuel on the fire.

Lastly, I’d just like to say my objective in creating these videos is to share with EVERYONE how great of a sport Snowmobiling is and how amazing of a place we have to ride here in the PNW. If someone GENUINELLY has a concern I am always open to listening and doing what I can to work with them. But that is much better done over a private message and not just publicly attacking someone, it’s a crappy thing to go through, especially if the persons concern was just a genuin mistake, which happens, I’m not perfect. People want to try and pretend our videos or tiny drones are the problem, meanwhile putting the loudest most obnoxious cans on their sleds as possible... I mean C’mon.... It’s sad how in our sport we are our own worst enemies. Hopefully we are soon able to work together with a larger voice and more powerful message, THAT is what’s needed to help keep our riding areas open and god willing open more.

And I’m totally fine with that, just say it then, don’t hide behind it with fake outrage over stupid claims. Trust me, I understand where you’re coming from, I just don’t agree, I think it’s selfish and a loosing position in the long run.

Your submissive stance toward the greenies is more of an issue than my legal riding, filming and droning. You have your stance and I have mine.

The real problem is that the only people that are really getting off their azz and raising hell are the ones against EVERYTHING BUT smoking weed, protesting and skiing or snowboarding. If anyone in their right mind thinks a battery powered drone operating at 12,000 ft at the very top of a mountain range is bothering someone. Then they obviously aren’t out in the mountains! they are just little bitches sitting at their key Boards.

You guys are running scarred!! Afraid to do what you can legally DO IN YOUR LAND!!! Your letting these greenie’s dictate what you do on the mountain. And now they have you even on a snowmobile forum, running scarred trying to make everyone else scared of them!!!!

And instead of spending the time actually knowing the law you would rather just get on this forum and try and create a chit storm.

Let the red thumbs fly girls. I don’t care.

Get a life.

Go metzger and go the original poster!!

I have a drone, the media and other creeps seem to think they are dangerous, they are far less dangerous than baseball. Trouble a bunch of people get on the government to restrict, maybe they should get the gov. to ban baseball!!!

Far from submissive. Next time you run into one of the board members of WSSA ask them how much I personally donate to the legal fund every year... Pretty sure it's more than everyone in this thread combined. Just because someone thinks they are a bad *** doesn't mean they need to run in and beat the hornets nest with a stick. :face-icon-small-con

That’s cool of you to donate so much money to the club. Not sure what else to say about that one. Your analogy is a bit exaggerated but I get your point. I guess I’m getting lost in if this is about my videos or only Chris’s. It’s crazy a 2lbs drone at 10,000ft could upset you (or anyone for that matter) I guess it’s cool you care about the sport enough to be worried. For the sake of trying to remain positive and mature (which let’s be honest is really hard on forums) I am done and have said my peace. Hopefully this thread will die now.

Very nice video. Definitely pro - level. I enjoyed it and learned a few things also. lahardar the greenie skier should keep in-bounds and Chadly should shove his wallet up his donating ***. A couple of douches. Trump will be rid of these "wilderness areas" before long anyways and their will be nothing to worry about. Cheers
