1100 Turbo...comparisons

Hello turbo cat people.

So I have been contemplating buying a turboed 4 stroke for the last 3 or so years. I currently run a T3 with a built 860 motor and an aerocharger at 7 lbs. I have an opportunity to buy a 1100 turbo very cheap and wanted to get opinions from those that have run both 4 and 2 stroke turbos. The sled is a 2013 163" with the big chute evo set up. I would plan on running close to 300 ponies and putting the 2016 front end on it.

Am I going to hate trying to ride the cat in the trees and boondocking?

thanks in advance!

Quick search will tell you what you already probably know.....

No one buys a 4s and needs to ask if they will hate it in the trees. It's heavier and requires more input in advance to the change in direction. You will be more tired at the end of the day. Can you make it work, sure. We all do. Can you do everything you did on your 2s, probably not. Will it do some things your 2s turbo didn't, most likely.

If boondocking is more than 50% of your riding style and your group, it might not be for you. Running race in a BC kit will get you 300hp with the right mods. If you've never held onto 300hp on a 4s it may change your mind on what style of riding you want to do :face-icon-small-hap

I haven't ridden 300hp, but I've been to 285 hp on a 4S. Is it more work in the trees? Sure. But the 4S has something the 2S turbo will NEVER have, and that's TORQUE! Think of a small block vs. a big block in the 1/4 mile: the big block may not have the faster ET, but it will put a smile on your face when you hit the throttle... that said a 4S turbo WILL work in the trees, but you will have to change your riding style a bit - the terrain comes at you VERY quickly, so plan ahead.

debate

thanks for the input guys. i am going to be purchasing a 4s turbo. now the debate is between 1100t or viper.

I don't know a Turbo big bore T3

I can't imagine a 4s having much on that.
the only time I've ridden the 1100 4S. i was hammered, and a buddy demanded I take it for a spin. but it steered like a freight Train

4s

one thing if you shop around you can come with a 1100t all done up for 30 to 50 cents on the dollar and if 4s isn't for you your not out so much money.and if like it buy a viper in year or two motors don't wear out like a 2s .love riding my 1100 but its not a sit on your *** ride sometimes you work for it is it worth it every time.cant believe how good runs thanks Evo :face-icon-small-coo

Look a couple threads down for that debate, well it's not really a debate, depending on what hp you are looking for makes it a really easy choice.

I had the EVO big chute 275 kit and was happy to see it go. I'll give you an honest answer, there heavy and the chassis can not hold up to the power.

Yes mine had the stage 3 delete. I had everything you can think of and was always breaking parts. Now if you keep it down around the 200 HP mark you probably would be fine.

There is a reason you see these sleds going so cheap.

Curious...

plumberdood, what were you breaking? I honestly haven't had a failure that wasn't my own fault ( broke the inner chaincase half when replacing a jackshaft - not enough heat, cold magnesium, big f@#king hammer lol). My driveline (C3 and stage 3 delete) has been solid. Your input please...

Ran 110 flash on a SC kit (approx 325hp) for basically 2 winters with zero failure. Stage 3, stock primary and Team secondary. 3" 162. What were you breaking Plumberhood?
