1000 ECU Program

Everyone seems to have a different idea on what year tune is best for the 1000. I just bought a 07 m1000 it has the `07 map, y-pipe, mbrp silencer. Should I have it reflashed or leave it alone. I have a wide band o2 should I put it on w/a tuner box??? What is the best thing to do on these monsters.

DONT FLASH IT FOR THE LOVE OF GOD MAN DONT DO IT.I would stick with the stock 07 mapping i did the 09 reflash bad idea rich bog in the mid bad i would stick with whats working jmho

Buddy had his '08 reflashed to '09 last season and hates it. He's looking for another '08 ecu now.

I ride an 08 M1000 with all updates and the reflash, ran better before the new flash. Never lost any full throttle power but does not run as smooth when transitioning from part throttle to wide open throttle and seems to load up more. If your sleds runs good, i would leave it alone. My sled is completely stock other than a can.:(

IMO Leave it alone and DON"T flash it. '07's had the best map anyway. I use an A/F gauge and a fuel box and love my sled. Rocks all the way. :D

here's another vote for leaving well enough alone. did the 09 reflash on my 08 m1000 and had to buy a fuel controller to make it run right again. totally sucked.

I've had one of each 1000, the 08 & 09 seemed to run fine (VERY happy with my 09 map), but the FLASH to those maps were not apples to apples with our 08's & 09's stock ecu. 07 was the best map for power anyhow.

If someone tries to touch it, cut their hands off.

Has anyone ever tried to get an ECU programmed back to the original 07 specs. Mine too ran best with the original program and with the first engine, had it replaced on a recall notice.. it ran great.

I think every time Arctic Cat send out an ECU reflash they are adding fuel to help save motors. Just like in 2004 when the new flash came out for the Firecat 700. The 03' sled had the sweetest map in it but they tend to burn down when ran hard. Instead of truly fixing the map issue, they just threw some fuel at it. Same here I think...

if you have an original 07 ecu, arm yourself with a 45 auto and let no one touch it on pain of death......i ran a y-pipe and can on mine with a modified air box to let it breathe better and had no problem...i run 6500-11000 ft...i did hear of some who burned down, all of those were below 7500'....so i think you're probably close....put an egt on it and watch what it does, especially in the 62-6500 rpm range, and also wide open on a long pull....get a single probe egt, mount it about 2" downstream of the pipe/y-pipe....wide open stock egts will run up to 1400 degrees, i know, seems hot, and that's what i thought at first also....but it worked well and never burned down....depending on your altitude, just watch for a while and pull plugs for readings...plugs should be fairly light tan, with deposits on the ground electrode that extend about 1/2 way up from the threads to the 90 degree bend in the electrode....:)
