09xp Updates?

When do we find out what has changed in regards to clutching, drive shaft, hand warmers etc. I would hope that some of these issues have been changed for the better.

I see on the Doo site they have revised gearing listed, hopefully the other "issues" have been addressed as well.

Can't you guys stop whining? I have an XP and have had no serious issues. Sure, there is always gonna be issues with new sleds.

Poo has had their share of problems this year but nobody is whining about those.
only picking on Doo because they drew attn to themselves with the new design.

My trip meter resets on it's own, but it doesn't affect my ride
handwarmers were updated before I bought it
Oil cap leaks, but not bad. Dealer has a new one coming
I was hitting the rev limiter, he fixed that.
I'll have the gauge fixed in the summer, I don't need it that bad
Driveshaft is fine, but I roll it over and check it before every ride
BRP gave me the 19t top gear to install
the clutches did get hot, but a vent kit fixed that. Now they don't get any hotter than the 05 mod
I pulled the cord on one belt and the dealer gave me two of the new ones. After 300 miles that 377 still looks brand new and I don't baby that sled!

If you don't like the new XPs (08s or 09s) buy a Cat, Poo or Yammie. You'll have issues with all sleds, guaranteed! Just ask my buddy who has busted 4 front shocks on his nytro and he was on a groomed trail when it happened. Just ask my buddy who has a Poo D8 and his clutches got so hot that he was shelling belts. Just ask my friend who rides an M1000 and has had it burn down twice and it eats belts too.

You are gonna have guys that don't have issues but you won't ever hear from them. Then you have the FEW guys that do have issues and all they do is complain and post threads about it.

If you don't like the new colors or BNG, buy black and peel the decals off. I kinda like the turquoise and gray color scheme for 09!

Just my 2 cents!

amen brotha!!

my trip meter is doing the same thing, figured i'd get that changed this summer too. i too only lost one cord on the orig belt about 250 miles on a long pull on a hot day so i'm not too concerned. i won't be buying a 09 since this sled has more potential than i do but i'm sure anyone who does won't be dissapointed.

They definitely have some issues. Just like all new sleds. Doesn't matter how good a sled is, there will always be people *****ing. Funny thing is, these are all easily fixable items.
I have spent a fair amount of time on some XP's this winter and I can tell you it's a good sled. I wouldn't say impressive but a good sled.
Here is my take. There is too much vibration through the handlebars, The front end is too stiff and the front shocks need different valving. Even with the sway bar disconnected a little bump will put you on your head. The steering is very stiff feeling, you seem to have to fight the sled all the time to make it go where you want it too. I'm not sure about the proper terminology but I don't like how much engine breaking the sled gets through the clutches. It slows you down too fast unexpectedly and you can't ever coast. You always have to be on the gas, even going down hill, unless it's real steep. The sled definitely needs venting as do most the new sleds. With some minor clutching and gearing down to a 19T top gear the XP will run with a good running M7 (that's good in my book)

Don't tell anybody but overall I like the sled. It has some good potential.

I do need to mention, I hate that the driven clutch is permanently connected to the shaft.

Well stated! Mine just needed a little clutch set up and now it is the best sled I have ever owned.

I too hate the jackshaft bit. That'll be changing when I get a spare 800 bucks.

I don't know who set your sled up, but I'd find a different dealer. My XP runs away from my 05 Summit 800 and that runs away from a good running M7. I ride with a guy that has a mod M7 and my XP smokes it and we are equal riders. I think your XP needs to be setup correctly, specially if you are comparing it to a M7!

I am comparing it to a "good running M7" because I know it's a "good running" M7. I've seen way to many "good running" sleds that in my book are not. This M7 ran circles around this XP stock. It also whips up pretty good on an XP that has (probably) the most popular clutch kit on the market in it. The guy that owns the sled rides with 2 other XP's and his runs the best and he is very happy how much better it runs than his buddy's sleds with his clutch kit. 3 weeks ago this "good running" M7 ran side by side up a steep long pull with a (case in point) "good running" M1000. Any "good running" M1000 I have set up will out do this M7 without much trouble. This M7 has yet to be out done by ANY Ski Doo. So this really "good running" M7 is definitely proven.

Does the M7 have the 162 attack 20? The attack 20 is the best thing going in the super deep loose powder. I can't see an M7 cleaning up on an XP unless it was this type of situation or unless the cat has alot of killer mods.
