09 XP advice

Hey guys, new to doo from cat this year. I have put a deposit on a 146X. The deposit is refundable until Tuesday. The only problem I have with it is that it has electric start, and I don't really want that. But, the dealer tells me it's pretty much the only X left in Can. I have made some calls to other dealer ships, and they all say the same thing. My question is, should I stick with the X even though it has electric start, or should I just get an everest? There is no shortage of them. I have fox floats from my M series I could use to upgrade the front shocks on the everest. Other than that the only differences are no steel braided brake line, higher windsheild, and decals correct? I have heard the brake pads on the X are better than the everest as well. Any truth to that? Is the X worth the extra coin? I'm sure this has been hashed out a million times on here, but could't find much. Thanks in advance.

I am not a doo guy, but ...buy the sled..if you end up not liking the electric start pull it off.....I think if you ride it a few times you will end up loving having electric start....it really doesnt add that much weight...

The X does have the rebuildable shocks. You can always take off the E-start if you don't want it. Sell it for a few hundred bucks. You might want to try it 1st. Sometimes I wish I still had mine. Had it on my 07, and loved it. I think it was just an extra accessory you could add on during the snocheck anyways, so there probably not charging you any extra for it.

Keep in mind the x package sleds are listed to be a few pounds lighter than the everest sleds. That weight savings would make up for the extra lbs of the electric start.

x-package benefits
-lighter front suspension components (couple lbs)
-braided brake line
-better gauge
-better colors
-low windshield
-rebuildable shocks
-better decals
all these small things added up would be a huge price difference if you where to try to upgrade an everest. jmo.

Thanks guys. I think they are charging me for the electric start though. they want 13,900 tax in CAD, which I thought was a bit steep. I passed up a 154 X a week ago that was 13,300 tax in. Just hadn't made up my mind then, so I let someone else take it.

Also, I don't really care about the graphics on the everest, I would just peel em off and eventually probably put a wrap of some sort on it. I also have my fox floats for the front of the everest.....

Yes the X's are harder to find but I believe the dealer in edson has a 146 I don't know if it's a e-start or not but it doesn't hurt to ask.

X's have better resale value as well, if left relativly stock
i say buy it, try the estart and take it off if you dont like it

I bought someone's snocheck 08 154 x last year and it came with e start. I didn't want it to start with but after running it last year I would not take it off. I thought e start was for women until i got used to it.

Get the X

X is ten pounds lighter. You also get $350 in free accessories and a $400 rebate from BRP. There are a few 154 X's still avialable at stojan's in Sexsmith. Just picked up my blue and white 163X last week that someone else snochecked.

Go on the Skidoo site dealer locater and doo a search for your area then let you finger doo the walking to see what's out there. As far as electric start I got it on my 06 and 09 and will not go back. X package 10lbs lighter, E-start around 18lbs so lbs difference. Enjoy whatever XP you end up on.

Save your money and buy the Everest, buy some better shocks for the rear and put your floats on the front and I think you'll have a better sled for less money, You can also find a low windshield on ebay if you want one of those.

Hosed

Gee whiz nate you just got hosed i snowchecked a 09 154x in april up here in wyoming actually my dealer is in south dakota and invoice was 10545.00 i would go talk to your dealer about that job they did to you. Unless you are talking about canadian funds, i don't know what the exchange rate would be.

yah I'm in Golden BC, not Golden CO....but yah, I just double checked my receipt.....15438.03 total - I spent just over 400 bucks on accessories, and get 350 of that back, so total cost of just the sled, taxes and pdi included is almost exactly 15,000.00 cdn. What have other BC and AB residents paid on a snow check? Also, I didn't think x's were supposed to be available outside of snow check deals? Did the dealer borrow some buddies names or what?

yeah 15K does seem like too much.

These are the best deals I have found.

146X $13,175 out the door + $350 in accessories

Everest 146 $12,600 out the door + 500 in accessories + $250 in gas.

On the machines themselves I wouldn't even consider the everest for only $575 less, although all the accessory money is nice, as I need some new gear this year, and the dealer with the everest is willing to give me decent coin for my 05 M7 wich would help out quite a bit.

Although if I could sell my M7 privately, it would be a whole different story......
