I have a 09 154 800 with a RKT 14:1 head, 440 mains, DJ's clutch kit W/15.3g in the pins Q11 helix, and a Super Q can riding @ 7-10K
On the hard pack it will only pull 8100 on clicker 4, get to a hill with some pow and a good climb it will drop to 7700-7400.
Clutches get Way Hot!!!

Could this just be a clutch alignment issue???
Or do I have other problems???

sounds like the same problem i had took it to the dealer twice. they told me that the DPM was out and not working now it runs great hopefully that helps you

So if it took 2 visits to the dealer what did they say the 1st time?
"Sorry we cant find anything"?

Clutching! I've got the dj clutch kit also.I've spent over $600,On clutching.Skidoo is doing a great job of providing a good living for the so called clutch guroos. It would be nice if we could pay after trying it out.I just payed the dealer here in Rock Springs Wyo.for his set up.It works better then it ever has.I'm not going to say what it is because I payed for his set up and I'm not going to give away his money.

Are you running the 377 belt? That's kinda how they act after they get some heat in them:face-icon-small-win

Yea it is a 377.
Do you mean after the motor gets some heat in it or the clutches get some heat in them?

I think my 03 Rmk might climb better than the Xp . . . . . just a thought.

If your 03 Rmk outclimbs your xp and its not severly modded you have definately got some problems.

I do not think that there is any problem with my Dj Clutch kit or My RKT Head. I do think that there is a problem with the sled not holding RPM on a loaded test run @ 8k.
Weather it is some junky clutch bushings, alignment,Ecm, or just a junk top end.

I am going to pull all of the weight out of the pins ( I dont know the weight of the empty pins off the top of my head) and see what that does.

Just looking for any other ideas

As far as the polaris goes no N02 or porting but other than that.

It could be a number of things
1) alignment
2) bad spring cap bushing (supposivldly fixed in the 09's)
3) bad rollers
4) dirty clutch
5) low on power for some reason
6) clutching

Did it ever work with DJ's kit? Did you do all the work at once? Head and clutching? Has it ever ran good?

When I installed the djs clutch kit its was better but still had to adjust for every condition.Same riding area different snow same day it gets old fast.Against the limiter on the trail then get to climbing and only pulling 7900. I didn't call and ask what to do because I didn't pay to ask questions.I payed for an awnser. Its still not purfict but consistent within 200 rpm,now after another 300$. The cluthing is the prob.

I have 2 different clutch kits in my sleds, 08 has the DJ kit and 09 has the Roosterbuilt kit. So far I am not impresseed by the DJ clutch kit and here is why......Track speed. My "stock" 09 before any clutch work was consistantly pulling more track speed than the 08 with the DJ kit. I will say that I was happier with the DJ clutching than the stock 08 clutching was. The Roosterbuilt kit is realy cool in the fact that it helps maintain that sweet spot that the 800r like to run at. With the both stock clutching and with the DJ kit you find that as you gain elevation with each clicker adjustment you make you will go up or down about 200 rpm per clicker number. Not so with the Roosterbuilt kit. I have tested this and even with change in elevation from 5k - 8.5k my sled on clicker 3 is right in the sweet spot (8150-8300). This is killer, I don't have to clicker up and down....just ride! One thing the DJ kit does have over the the Roosterbuilt kit is the backshift (braking). DJ's kit realy help you slow down and the roosterbuilt kit gets a little harry when you are coming back down after a big climb. Hang On!!!

Well I was kicking around 5 of possible problems ( When I installed the DJ kit I cleaned everything, both clutches were nasty after 300 mi) and even in that order.

I have only had 2 rides on the DJ kit (DJ told me to try a little more weight in the pins due to the head) first with 15.9g and the second with 15.3g.
The head and can were first and the DJ kit was later, but looking back on it never really has ran what I would call good.

Whats worse having your sled sit at the dealer waiting to get worked on or not having it clutched for S*%#.

Dealer here I come.

just out of curiosity where are you at in utah and what dealer do you use? Secondly, why would you use the RKT head and can they recommend and not use the clutching recommended?
Also, many of these 800R's seem to detonate with a head. If it is deto it will run like sheit, just like you describe. The deto sensor is very sesitive.

Glad it's working good for you.....try tickling the throttle a bit on descents to keep the primary engaged and it should slow down with engine compression...just takes some throttle manipulation. :beer;:D

I live in Tooele, bought the sled from a inbred jerk off in Evanston ( was the lowest price I could find on my snocheck, but when it comes to service he is a MORON)
I have been talking to Wellers on the phone a few times and Mike has been a great help. . . Well as much as one can do over the phone. I was planing on taking it to them

Who do you use Max?

I was not given any clutching recommendations so that is why I went with a DJ kit.

In 370 Mi I have only had the Deto go off once on the first tank of gas.

Mike at Wellers is a great guy. I dont think they have done any 860's though, so he may not be too much help there, but he is a top notch doo mechanic. I would make sure your primary is in perfect shape, rollers, pins, bushings, etc. Just for kicks install a rubber or teflon washer under the deto sensor next time you ride and see if it fixes it. I know a number of guys who have had similar problems and it was the deto sensor.
I have never run DJ's stuff so I dont know what to tell you there. Problem is you have no idea what springs, helix and ramps you have in that kit. So its hard to give advice if its a clutch set up problem.
