09 rmk 800 ?

I have been looking at buying a carryover 09 800 RMK, looking for some input do you think a person should stay clear and go with a 2010 model or go for it, just seems like alot of negative comments on the 09's and updates?

Thanks!

You don't even want to see the list of parts that have been replaced on my 800. IMO, you should have a spare sled if you buy an 800.

Been fighting my 800 2010 update. At dealership now and running out of ideas. Just picked up my "spare" sled. 2010 M8 Sno Pro.

Like he said... have a back-up sled , I have a 08 D 800 and having some minor issues thats keeping me from riding...just bought a 09 700 rmk 2wks ago (new) from frontier cycles in WY. I think that 700 runs great and can keep up with the 800 with out the issues. Just saying :beer;

Mine runs great! Was little skeptical at first cause of all the things said about them. But don't regret it at all it rips. You will probley have to do some gearing and clutching work to it.

How many miles on yours, jr?

If I had to do it all over again, I would not have purchased my '09 D8 155. I would have went with either a Doo, Cat or a Polaris 700.

320 miles on update. Was left over so none before update.

I'm glad you are happy with your 320 miles but, mine had over 600 before it started puking pistons. Now with @ 2,000 miles it is currently getting the update after going down again. Counting the new parts, it is on 9 pistons, 3 monoblocks, 2 heads, 2 injectors, 2 exhaust valves, 1 ev bellows, 1 fuel pump assy, 1 voltage reg., 1 ECU and I suspect that before I get it back it will have yet another v.r. and ECU.

I have more seat time on my backup sled than I do my 800 this year. It's a blast to ride, but I have a $10,000 pile of schitt that I doubt will ever be dependable.

There are some happy D8 owners out there, I have 1200 miles on my 08, had 1000 trouble free miles before the update. I added an SLP pipe, clutching and opened up the air intake after the update and now it runs better than ever. I'm going to put a Power Commander on it as the midrange seems to be set way to lean to be safe. Don't want to minimize the problems some guys seem to be having, but they are probably posting more stuff on the forums than the guys who are happy.

Wow, is there really that many problems out there? I ride with two '09 and two '10 Dragon 800's and all have ran well. All have full SLP exhaust and fuel controlers. We ride 8k to 10k feet also.

Think about this, you are riding with 4 basically brand new sleds. Most people don't get more than 1000 miles a year on a sled. Based on this, it is going to take a while for the issues to really start showing up in the majority of the sleds.

I would have sold my 09 dragon and bought an m sled. but i didn't want to take that large of a hit. So i ended up turboing my sled. I should have just sold it and bought the m.

Sounds like I better get a better tow strap :).

I snowcheck an '09 Dragon 800 and an M1000. I stressed all summer about getting the Cat (long time Polaris guy) but I've been pleased with the decision to get the Cat. I've still got some great Polaris sleds in the shop too, but I'm gonna hold out on the Dragon until Polaris gets the reliability back.
