09 rmk 800 dragon binding

So i went riding and it was running great as usual then i heard the belt starting to go, belts cords slapping.. so i stopped and sure enough it was starting to go out. i changed the belt and now its acts as if its binding. I am not very familiar with the clutches at all. i usually sand the melted rubber from the belts off to clean the clutch up but thats my extent. I thought i might have a bent drive shaft so i tipped it on its side and watched the track spin but i can't tell, besides i never hit anything anyway. I am pretty convinced its either the clutch or the engines out of alignment because i changed the steering post not long ago. Anything specific i should look for in the clutch??? Or any other ideas? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Carry a piece of scotchbrite in your toolkit, then you can clean up the clutches when this happens. I would not use sandpaper personally unless I was doing work where I could clean up the sand and debris from the sandpaper. Scotchbrite is better to have with me on the trail.

You might have an alignment problem, or a motor mount or motor strap issue, but most likely just need to clean up those clutches, and most important adjust belt deflection on the secondary when putting on a new belt. The procedure is documented in the owners manual, and if you don't have an owners manual you can download it from polaris.com for free if I recall correctly. Service manual is not free, but the owners manual is.

It could be the primary is binding on debris but I have not had that happen before so I think it is less likely (been riding since 1996)...

Good luck, let us know what fixes it.
