09' Polaris Assault 800 losing a cylinder

His Polaris Assault 800 with only 800 miles lost all the compression on PTO side at Big Horns some 900 miles away from his home on second day of 8 day stay. The mechanic pulled VES out and can see the ring below the piston. His Polaris dealer in Wisconsin called local dealer in Wy to get his sled fixed but found out that the parts are backordered leaving him stranded next 6 days without sled. Not even his Wisconsin dealer have the parts to ship to him because of backordered parts. WTF?????? Why are pistons/ top end rebuild backordered? I am under the impression there are serious problems going on Polaris 800 engines????? He probably has to ride a rental. Should Polaris cover his rental charge and how can it be done?

2 assults 2 dragons in my group all went POOF and only one of them was done in 3weeks and that took a call to Polaris industries and a chat with a VP parts were hand delivered to the dealer but for the other 3 sleds-----not good polaris sure is dragging ther feet....

ya Id say a rental should be paid for by polaris but GOOD LUCK WITH THAT.
