09 polaris 800's stock blew up but r they ok with diff map and a turbo?

I have a really good deal lined up on a 2009 dragon 800 with low miles and a new top end. I'm tempted to buy it and turbo it. We all know the polaris 800's had their issues with top ends. Do they hold up with a turbo and good mapping?

Maybe with good pistons and good mapping. You still have to deal with poor cylinder design. The skirts are too thin and supposedly they get out of round with operating temps. There's a reason you can buy a 09 turbo D8 for 8k and a M8t will cost ya 10.

You could ask Anthony Oberti I believe he had an 09 with a turbo, and had good luck with it. Don't know anything about his motor, just that I think he had an 09 boosted.
One of my riding buddies has one, and has real good luck with it. Not a lot of miles on it yet, all stock with a turbo on it, his is only running pump gas and about 7 to 8 lbs. runs real good. IMO I think Polaris had some bad ones and some good ones. All the guys that I ride with that have had the 09 had no issues, including myself. that is a total of 5 sleds small number in the whole picture of that model.

we had very good luck with a 2010 dragon 800 with carls cycle one ring piston and boondocker turbo kit

Theres a very good reason there are so many D8's for a "really good deal" save yourself the agony and pass on it.
